Our challenge
An ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) Talend Developer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining ETL processes using the Talend Data Integration platform. Talend is a widely-used open-source tool that enables developers to integrate data from various sources, transform it as needed, and load it into target systems, such as data warehouses or databases.
Additional Information
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Jacksonville, FL is $110k - $115k/year & benefits (see below).
The Role
Responsibilities:
- Data Extraction: Identify and extract data from various sources, including databases, flat files, APIs, and cloud services.
- Data Transformation: Apply business rules and transformations to the extracted data to ensure it meets the required format and quality standards.
- Data Loading: Load the transformed data into target systems, ensuring the data is accurately represented and optimized for performance.
- Job Development: Design and develop ETL jobs using Talend’s graphical interface and components.
- Performance Tuning: Optimize ETL processes for performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Error Handling and Logging: Implement error handling and logging mechanisms to monitor ETL jobs and troubleshoot issues.
- Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for ETL processes, including job designs, data mappings, and data flow diagrams.
- Collaboration: Work closely with data architects, analysts, and stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.
Requirements:
You are:
- Talend Expertise: Proficient in using Talend Open Studio or Talend Data Integration.
- Database Knowledge: Strong understanding of SQL and experience with various databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL).
- Data Modeling: Familiarity with data modeling concepts and methodologies.
- Scripting Languages: Knowledge of scripting languages like Python or Java can be beneficial.
- Data Warehousing Concepts: Understanding of data warehousing principles and architecture.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in ETL processes.
