Job Description

Targeted Annual Pay Range: Minimum of $100,000.00 to a maximum of $125,000.00

POSITION PURPOSE: The Project Engineer reports to the Engineering Manager with the primary responsibility of supporting energy efficiency projects and data engineering and analytics. This position requires a solid understanding of building systems and the analysis of building energy data. The Project Engineer will deliver energy services for our clients, help improve internal business processes, and deliver a high standard of professional service.

PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Contribute to all aspects of energy efficiency projects, including the design and construction phases.
  2. Identify opportunities to improve energy performance and facility operations, and develop cost-effective retro-commissioning and capital solutions.
  3. Instill confidence and gain facility stakeholder buy-in for implementing turn-key retrofits and RCx solutions.
  4. Develop concept design, specifications, scope of work, and cost estimation for energy projects.
  5. Thoroughly understand building energy system function and facility operation, focusing on optimizing sequences of operation and building energy performance.
  6. Effectively manage, delegate, and influence stakeholders (including facility operators and BAS/HVAC service contractors).
  7. Review subcontractor’s design documentation and submittals.
  8. Analyze system energy performance and calculate energy savings, including life-cycle analysis.
  9. Develop and execute EM&V plan using IPMVP protocols.
  10. Deliver performance, measured by ongoing energy reduction at the customer’s utility meter using the NMEC (net metered energy consumption) approach.
  11. Leveraging building energy and system data to identify cost-effective ECMs.
  12. Develop data visualizations using PowerBi. 
  13. Provide QC on technical work performed by peers within the energy services group.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This role requires traveling to job sites roughly 25% of the time. 
  • Be able to climb up and down ladders.

 

Qualifications

Education / Experience / Background

  • 10 years of experience delivering energy management and facility engineering services, experience in healthcare a plus.
  • Experience with HVAC controls, and operation
  • Experience with energy calculation methodologies
  • Experience with energy modeling
  • Experience with data structures
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python or R
  • Familiar with version control. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or similar field

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Good understanding of statistics
  • Ability to communicate verbally and through concise memorandum and formal report writing. 
  • Track record of successful management of high-value client relationships.

Required Certification / Licenses / Training

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) preferred
