Job Summary

On-device AI (smartphone intelligent virtual assistant) helps users complete daily tasks, such as setting reminders, querying information, and controlling devices, through speech recognition and natural language processing technologies, thereby enhancing efficiency in both daily life and work.

On-device(mobile phone or smartphone) data management is crucial to the success of on-device AI. By optimizing data organization, integrating system and user data, analyzing user knowledge in the data, and constructing semantic indexes, it supports smartphone intelligent assistant reminders and various personalized services. On-device Data Management can also be referred to as the data management system for the mobile intelligent virtual assistant.

The position focus on the data management which support the entire AI system of the mobile devices.

The data include structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data such as emails, text messages, photos, contacts, various documents, and even audio and video stored on the devices. The goal is to organize these data in an efficient and logical manner to support the AI assistant system on the devices.

We are seeking a Chief On-device Data Management Architect to join our database team which is focused on making significant progress in on-device data management. The successful candidate is expected to be an expert in research areas such as AI data management, document search, semantic search, database system architecture and theory, knowledge graph. The candidate will also have a keen insight into technology trends and a strong passion for technological breakthroughs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead technology planning and breakthroughs on on-device data management, such as data integration, intent extraction, knowledge graph, semantic indexing construction, on-device knowledge management with LLM, AI inference acceleration and AI data management technology.

Gain insight into industry technology trends, analyze on-device AI + data application scenarios and identify the long-term and short-term objectives and plans.

Identify key technologies on on-device data management, and take the lead in related collaboration, acquisition or open source work.

Lead and collaborate on projects within a global team.

Person Specification:

Required:

• Comprehensive knowledge of database theory, database system architecture, AI data management technology, document search, semantic searches, intent extraction, AI inference acceleration.
• Experience in researching or developing database kernels.
• Ability in applying new concepts and methods to solving problems.
• Proficient in at least one system-level programming language.
• Good communication skills and ability to contribute to team discussions.

Desired:

• PhD degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Publications in leading conferences and journals within the subject area.
• Experience in leading technology and/or product success in database construction and natural language processing.
• Familiarity with the implementation of commonly used smartphone intelligent assistant systems in the industry.
