THE ROLE

As Indie Campers Senior Data Engineer, you will be responsible for building Indie Campers systems for data collection, management, and conversion, turning raw data into usable information for our Data team and various Business Stakeholders to use.

You’ll be developing the data pipelines and systems that power Indie Campers’ data-driven business and enable the future-looking features we’re currently developing powered by big data and AI.

You will join our Global Data team in our Lisbon HQ, report directly to our Data Lead, and work closely with Engineering, Product, Marketing, Revenue, and Operations  teams.

WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON?

As a Senior Data Engineer at IndieCampers, you will play a key role in shaping the future of our Data and AI capabilities. Working alongside a team of talented experts, you will:

  • Design, build, and maintain efficient and scalable data pipelines.
  • Develop innovative tools and frameworks to enhance the data platform.
  • Foster a data-driven culture across the company.
  • Collaborate closely with data scientists and analysts to deliver actionable insights, forecasts, and optimization strategies.
  • Establish and maintain data quality standards across the organization.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering.
  • Proficiency in relational and non-relational databases including PGSQL, MongoDB, BigQuery, Redshift ;
  • Familiarity with a technology stack that includes experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Redis, ElasticSearch, Kafka, Chef, and Terraform.
  • Familiar with modern architecture and engineering best practices: microservices, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, monitoring, incident response
  • Experience with first-hand principles and trade-offs of software engineering, like algorithms, concurrency, asynchronous & reactive processing, distributed systems. Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals such as algorithms, asynchronous & multi-threaded processes
  • Prior experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, QuickSight, Metabase, Power BI);Experience working in with or implementing data pipelines, from ingestion to serving, with technologies such as Kafka, Postgres, S3 / GCS, Spark, and Databricks/Snowflake.
