Join our Delivery Data Science team to build smarter search, ranking, and recommendation systems. Make an impact on millions of users while solving complex machine learning challenges! 🚀

About us

With over 200 million customers in 50+ countries, Bolt is one of the fastest-growing tech companies in Europe and Africa. And it's all thanks to our people.

We believe in creating an inclusive environment where everyone is welcome, regardless of race, colour, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or disability.

Our ultimate goal is to make cities for people, not cars, and we need your help to achieve this mission!

About the role

You will be building complex models for our home page ranking, textual item search and recommendation engines, and building product knowledge graphs for our merchants. You’ll also use optimisation and causal inference techniques for menu quality assessment and performance-based commercial models. As a Staff-level Data Scientist, you will mentor and guide less experienced team members, sharing best practices in problem-solving, modelling, software engineering, and essential soft skills.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Data Analysts, Data Egineers, Product Managers, and Software Engineers, to gain a deep understanding of business needs and create end-to-end technical solutions for them.
  • Deploying and validating solutions for millions of users, enabling fast feedback and measurable added value to customers.
  • Rapidly deploying models to production environments using AWS and internal machine learning platforms, leveraging a toolkit that includes Python, Spark, Presto, Docker, SageMaker, and Airflow for efficient data processing and model deployment.
  • Initiating regular knowledge exchange with Data Scientists across all seniority levels, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes learning and innovation.
  • Solving real-world problems on a wide variety of tasks, such as ranking, textual search, recommendation, user clustering, pricing, textual improvement, knowledge extraction from images, and user clusterisation.
  • Applying the most advanced techniques, such as deep learning, gradient boosting, causal inference, mathematical optimization, dimensionality reduction, uplift modelling, and more.

About you:

  • You have 5 years of experience in Data Science and Machine Learning, ideally in product development within a technology-focused company.
  • You’re skilled in Python programming, leveraging key libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, and PyTorch for data analysis and modelling, with practical experience in statistical hypothesis testing that allows you to independently identify problems, explore trends, and discover opportunities through data-driven methods.
  • You have a proactive mindset, a willingness to take initiative and work with little supervision, and enthusiasm for collaborating with different roles in product, analytics, and engineering to identify problems, explore trends, and discover growth opportunities.
  • You exhibit excellent teamwork and strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written, enabling clear collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
  • You have hands-on experience in building ML systems from end to end, including testing, monitoring, scaling, and measuring the impact.

Experience is great, but what we really look for is drive, intelligence, and integrity. So even if you don’t tick every box, please consider applying!

Why you’ll love it here:

  • Play a direct role in shaping the future of mobility.
  • Impact millions of customers and partners in 600+ cities across 50+ countries.
  • Work in fast-moving autonomous teams with some of the smartest people in the world.
  • Accelerate your professional growth with unique career opportunities.
