Job Description

This application is for a 3-month (12 weeks) student role from June - August 2025. Application Review Begins: February 2025.

Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacometrics are critical in advancing drug development, providing essential insights for dosing strategies, efficacy, and safety profiling, and contributing extensively to a drug’s labeling. This internship focuses on applying artificial intelligence (AI) methodologies within clinical pharmacology to enhance data analysis, model development, and decision-making throughout drug development. Interns will be involved in designing and implementing AI-driven models to support clinical pharmacology studies, applying predictive analytics to refine therapeutic insights and optimize dosage strategies. Ideal candidates will have a strong interest in clinical pharmacology, pharmacometrics, AI, and regulatory science, conducting research on AI applications to drive innovations in the drug development process.

Position Description

As an intern, you will work closely with scientists to develop and implement AI-driven approaches that improve pharmacometric modeling and quantitative analysis. The role involves applying AI to streamline data interpretation, enhance predictive accuracy, and support regulatory strategies, advancing understanding of drug response variability and optimizing therapies for diverse patient populations. This internship provides a unique, hands-on opportunity to apply AI to complex pharmacological data and contribute meaningfully to innovative approaches in drug development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacometrics teams to design and implement AI-based solutions for pharmacometric modeling and data analysis.
  • Apply AI-driven models to enhance data interpretation, supporting optimized drug dosing, efficacy, and safety insights.
  • Prepare summaries and reports for team discussions and potential regulatory support.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate program in pharmacology, biostatistics, computational biology, data science, machine learning or a related field.
  • Foundational knowledge in pharmacology and pharmacometrics is required.
  • Familiarity with machine learning, AI modeling techniques, and quantitative pharmacology is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with NONMEM and R; experience with PsN or similar modeling & simulation tools.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience in programming languages (e.g., Python, R).
  • Demonstrated interest in advancing AI applications in clinical pharmacology and drug development.

To participate in the Biogen Internship Program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
  • At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date
  • Be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university

Education
