The Meta Reality Labs Research Team brings together a world-class team of researchers, developers, and engineers to create the future of Contextual AI. RL Research is seeking exceptional Research Scientists to research and help build meaningful representations of user state using data gathered from egocentric machine perception functionalities that will underpin contextual-AI-wearables as well as VR and AR devices. To do this we collect and analyze rich behavioral datasets to understand human experience. The research intern will work on cutting edge research problems in the field of contextual AI and we are looking for candidates with qualitative and quantitative social science experience.
Our internships are twelve (12) to twenty four (24) weeks long and we have various start dates throughout the year. Some projects may require a minimum of 24 consecutive weeks.Research Scientist Intern, Multimodal Contextual AI (PhD) Responsibilities
$7,800/month to $11,293/month + benefits
Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable. - Plan and execute cutting-edge research and development to advance the state-of-the-art in machine perception.
- Collaborate with other researchers and engineers across machine perception teams at Meta to develop AI systems.
- Work with the team to help design, setup, and run practical experiments and analyses related to large-scale high quality sensing and machine reasoning.
- You’ll own research end-to-end. This means you’ll navigate trade-offs while designing projects, proposing appropriate methodologies, analyzing data, and communicating results to diverse audiences in order to drive impactful decisions.
- Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a PhD degree in the domain of Social Interaction, Anthropology, Informatics, NLP, Embodied Cognition, Human Computer Interaction, Robotics or a relevant field.
- Experience working within Python environments.
- Experience working in a Unix environment.
- Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
- Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as first-authored publications at leading workshops or conferences.
- Demonstrated research coding experience via an internship, work experience, coding competitions, or widely used contributions in open source repositories.
- Intent to return to a degree-program after the completion of the internship.
- Experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment.
- Hands-on experience implementing end-to-end training of ML models from data collection and design to evaluation.
