The opportunity

EY is seeking a Data Architecture Manager with a strong understanding of data and technology within the TMT sector, complemented by a solid track record of delivery. This individual will spearhead the design, development, and governance of our clients’ data architectures, ensuring scalable, effective, and secure data solutions that align with business objectives and support data imperatives. As a Manager in Data Architecture, you will have the opportunity to lead transformative technology projects and programs that align with our organizational strategy to achieve impactful outcomes. You will provide assurance to leadership by managing timelines, costs, and quality, and lead both technical and non-technical project teams in the development and implementation of cutting-edge technology solutions and infrastructure. Your specialized knowledge in project and program delivery methods, including Agile and Waterfall, will be instrumental in coaching others and proposing solutions to technical constraints.

 

Your key responsibilities

In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the effective management and delivery of one or more processes, solutions, and projects, with a focus on quality and effective risk management. You will drive continuous process improvement and identify innovative solutions through research, analysis, and best practices. Managing professional employees or supervising team members to deliver complex technical initiatives, you will apply your depth of expertise to guide others and interpret internal/external issues to recommend quality solutions. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring project deliverables are completed and project status is tracked effectively.
  • Managing engagement economics and resource planning.
  • Identifying opportunities for additional services and leading specific RFP responses.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Data Scientists, Business Analysts, and IT teams) to define data requirements, design solutions, and implement data strategies that align with our clients’ objectives.
  • Organize and lead workshops and design sessions with stakeholders, including clients, team members, and cross-functional partners, to capture requirements, understand use cases, personas, key business processes, brainstorm solutions, and align on data architecture strategies and projects.
  • Logical and physical data modelling – design, develop, and maintain data models and data pipelines.
  • Conduct data modelling and design reviews, striving for improved usability and efficiency.
  • Design blueprints for data extraction and basic transformations.
  • Write SQL scripts and stored procedures, optimize and tune SQL queries for performance and efficiency.
  • Design, implement and maintain data security and access controls.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues.
  • Agile management and scrum master, maintaining roadmap, tasks, and making sure everyone in the team is working towards a clear goal.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • A Bachelor’s degree required (4-year degree)
  • Typically, no less than 4 - 6 years relevant experience in Data Architect role designing and building complex data solutions in support of business analytics, data science, software development and data engineering.
  • 3+ years’ experience with native cloud products and services such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
  • 2+ years of experience mentoring and leading a team of data architects, fostering a culture of innovation and professional development.
  • Understanding of data design patterns such as Data Fabric, Data Mesh and Data Vault.
  • Ability to facilitate design discussions and communicate architectural decisions.
  • Experience in creating reliable solution plans in cooperation with business and multi-disciplinary teams, including costs estimation and delivery approaches.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking through a proven ability to research client inquiries and emerging issues related to regulations, industry practice and new application technologies.
  • Experience in using Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc.).
  • Flexible and proactive/self-motivated working style with strong personal ownership of problem resolution.
  • Excellent communicator (written and verbal, formal and informal).
  • Ability to multi-task under pressure and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be a team player and enjoy working in a cooperative and collaborative team environment.
  • Adaptable to new technologies and standards.
  • Excellent SQL development skills and good understanding of scripting.
  • Excellent understanding of data modelling techniques.
  • A valid driver’s license in the US.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to meet client needs, potentially up to 50%.

  What we offer   We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $141,400 to $259,200. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $169,700 to $294,600. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances.
