Data Modeler Manager

 

 

 

What this role is about?

  

Data Modeler Manager role is responsible of assisting the Data Activation Hub in providing required data assets to meet the business requirements. Candidate will be responsible for defining and designing the logical data model for the different projects and initiatives under the corresponding Function as well as implementation and development of the PowerBI Data sets together with the physical data models in the databases. Data Modeler Manager will design logical data systems and databases, evaluating and improving existing BI solutions, providing technical support and troubleshooting for Power BI reporting solutions, including investigation of data issues and data validation.

This position plays a critical role as would be the interface between the data engineers and the data strategists/analysts and would facilitate and ensure that the data collected and enriched fits for future analytical purposes.

Data Modeler Manager has to ensure that reporting consultants will timely assess and implement global changes and projects, but also coordinates the solution delivery by reviewing and monitoring the development efforts, project plans and assignments.

 

 

 

What will you do?

 

  • Design and develop the Power BI datasets for the corresponding projects ensuring that are highly available, scalable, reliable, secure, and cost-effective
  • Design, develop and provide reporting and tools for our internal stakeholders
  • Responsible for the data warehouse physical data model design ensuring best practices on data modeling are implemented
  • Define new KPIs and critical review existing ones
  • Prepare and model data using modern database technologies
  • Develop data pipelines for small or medium project tasks ensuring that are highly available, scalable, reliable, secure, and cost-effective
  • Support strategic decision-making processes
  • Collaborate with GTC, EA and IT Security teams to receive the green light for the chosen topology; ensure that new development will fulfil the security and technical requirements
  • Work with the project manager and external service providers to estimate the resources, budget and plan
  • Writes unit/integration tests, contributes to engineering wiki, and documents work
  • Deliver the development up to the UAT phase and coordinate bug fixing during UAT
  • Provide, review and confirm technical solutions aligned with the Data Platform Delivery Team Manager
  • Manage PBI Capacity metrics to ensure that PBI Nodes are well sized and ready to absorb the required workload.
  • Work together with Microsoft Support to escalate issues and problems and follow up until resolution
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
  • Ensure quick adoption of new features delivered by Microsoft as part of new PowerBI platform services
  • Investigation and resolution of incidents and change requests, incidents and problems via Service Now
  • Ensure that technical specs documentation is regularly maintained and updated

 

 

What are we looking for?

 

  • University degree or equivalent, preferably in Data or Statistics field
  • 10+ years of experience in Data and Analytics from modelling and reporting standpoint
  • of SQL Server or similar
  • 5+ years of exposure to IT architecture and solutioning for data flows among system and applications
  • 3+ years delivering solutions on the Microsoft Azure platform with a special emphasis on data solutions and services
  • Proficiency in PowerBI including modeling and design; external tools: Tabular Editor, DAX Studio and REST API
  • Experience with ETL tools preferable Azure Data Factory and DataBricks (or similar)
  • Strong analytical skills and troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge in the field of testing and validating Analytical solutions
  • Good understanding of Azure PaaS management and resource monitoring
  • Proficiency in data warehouse optimization and performance
  • Very good Database skills (Azure SQL and Synapse), scripting and data modeling
  • Fluency in English
