Position Overview
The Department of Transportation (DOT), Office of the Secretary (OST), is leading an ambitious Application Rationalization project aimed at comprehensively evaluating software technologies employed across all transportation modes. This effort seeks to identify redundancies, address security concerns, and pinpoint opportunities for investment to align with the agency's mission of improving efficiency and technological effectiveness.
We are seeking a Data Analyst / PowerApp Developer to join this transformative initiative. This role will support the development, enhancement, and maintenance of applications, including the PowerApp CLOSET (Consolidated List of Systems and Enterprise Technology), and facilitate data-driven decision-making through PowerBI visualizations. The ideal candidate will also provide thought leadership on data governance and collection best practices, leveraging the Microsoft Power Platform suite of tools and SharePoint-based solutions.
Responsibilities
- Support ongoing development and optimization of the CLOSET application to collect, organize, and analyze software technology data.
- Design and implement additional PowerApps as needed to support project-specific workflows and analyses.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure applications meet user requirements and agency objectives.
- Develop dynamic dashboards using PowerBI to present insights into technology usage, redundancies, and opportunities for rationalization.
- Create user-friendly visualizations to track and communicate progress across various rationalization efforts.
- Provide strategic guidance on data collection, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to governance policies.
- Develop and document processes for data validation, organization, and maintenance.
- Work closely with DOT modes to align application and data solutions with agency workflows.
- Act as a subject matter expert for the Microsoft Power Platform, offering training and mentorship as needed.
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve efficiency using technology solutions, saving staff time and resources.
- Implement enhancements to existing tools to maximize their functionality and usability.
Required Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 tools and integration with the Power Platform.
- Experience in federal or public sector IT initiatives, particularly in application rationalization or technology evaluation projects.
- Knowledge of process improvement frameworks and their application to data collection and reporting workflows.
- Proficient in communicating technical concepts in a clear and accessible manner to ensure client comprehension and engagement.
