As part of the Data Operations team, the Analytics Engineer supports Augusta National Golf Club’s (ANGC) data initiatives by transforming raw data into well-structured, analytics-ready datasets. The primary purpose of this role is to transform data into actionable insights by building efficient data models. This role emphasizes querying data, facilitating in-depth analyses, and ensuring data quality. The individual will collaborate closely with stakeholders to provide actionable insights through ad-hoc data queries and analysis, complementing the work of the data engineers and data analysts on the team.

Essential Functions of the Job

  • Build and maintain curated datasets, ensuring data integrity and accuracy for reporting and advanced analytics.
  • Collaborate with data engineers to refine and optimize data models and workflows for efficient data processing.
  • Utilize Python or other scripting languages to automate and streamline data workflows and analysis tasks.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of data pipelines, with a focus on data transformations and orchestration.
  • Perform ad-hoc queries and analyses to extract insights from raw and curated datasets to support business decisions.
  • Conduct data profiling and quality assessments to ensure high standards of data accuracy and consistency.
  • Design and develop dashboards using Tableau or other visualization tools to present insights in an intuitive format.
  • Provide outstanding, friendly, customer service to all Augusta National staff, including executives and Club members as appropriate while being a positive representation of the Data Analytics department to the entire organization.
  • Maintain the strict confidentiality of Augusta National Golf Club, its staff and membership, and all aspects of the business.

Physical Demands

  • Acceptable level of hearing and vision to perform job duties.
  • Occasionally required to walk and work with hands and arms, lift up to 30 pounds and/or drive a golf cart.
  • Constantly required to sit, sometimes for several hours at a time, and use their hands and fingers to operate a computer.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with general Data Analytics related tasks as needed
  • Assist with Data Analytics related tasks and preparations for The Masters Tournament
  • Meet with users as required to discuss and re-visit departmental application needs
  • Performs other duties which are deemed by management to be an integral part of the job

Qualifications:

      Skills/Knowledge/Attributes:

  • Proficient in SQL for querying, analyzing, and optimizing datasets within data warehouses
  • Experience with ETL practices and tools like Apache Airflow, dbt, and Alteryx is a plus
  • Experience manipulating data and creating analysis using Python
  • Knowledge of data modeling, data quality, and best practices for maintaining data accuracy
  • Experience with cloud data platforms like Snowflake and database systems such as Microsoft SQL and other relational databases
  • Strong analytical skills for interpreting data and deriving actionable insights
  • Strong focus on ensuring data integrity and quality
  • Brings a curious mindset to explore and pursue innovative solutions
  • Demonstrates initiative and logical problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative, customer-focused environment
  • Must be proactive, demonstrate initiative, and be a logical thinker
  • Comfortable in a customer experience environment

Relative Experience/Education:

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Analytics, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline
  • 0 to 2 years of experience as a Developer, Analyst or similar skilled position
  • Prior experience working in the Sports & Entertainment industries is a plus

Required License(s):

  • Possess a valid driver’s license and/or successfully completes the Club’s internal motor vehicle training program

Projected Work Schedule:

Normal work hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
