Mechanical R&D Engineer

General Information

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Mechanical R&D Engineer for its Technology Center group. This position is a mechanical engineer role in an R&D team that is serving global technology development of the distribution transformer business. Our business is power equipment manufacturing which involves various business processes from engineering to manufacturing. This position will be in the office location. Candidates will be required to travel up to 15% (globally) based on project needs.

Your responsibilities

  • Analyze and validate structural analytical calculations.
  • Implement or modify formulas and optimization algorithms for mechanical structures in Hitachi Energy’s proprietary design tool applications.
  • Work in a cross-discipline team, using an agile and/or waterfall development methodology that requires active participation in all team activities.
  • Actively follow/apply best practices, technologies, and Hitachi Energy standards to build high-quality products.
  • Participate in status reviews and provide input on potential problems.
  • Drive innovation, creating POC on new technologies.
  • Technical Standard creation and maintenance.
  • Work in multinational teams.
  • Escalate issues to the appropriate project or team manager as needed.

Requirement and qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with 2 years of related experience.
  • Good understanding of structural analysis and optimization.
  • Analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Basic experience in programming.
  • Knowledge and experience with any of the following will be considered as an advantage: Visual Basic (Excel macros), Python, Creo Simulate, ANSYS, and Machine Learning.
  • 3D CAD (Creo Parametric Preferred)Familiar with modern project management tools and processes (Azure DevOps, Agile, etc.).
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
