Unlock the Power of Data at Pacific Life. We’re seeking a talented Domain Data Architect to join our Pacific Life Team in Newport Beach, CA; Omaha NE; or Toronto, Canada. Looking for self-starters to help shape the future of data architecture and drive data-driven success.  

  • This role is on-site. You’ll work at our state-of-the-art Newport Beach headquarters / modern Omaha office.

As a Data Architect you’ll move Pacific Life, and your career, forward by accelerating our data initiatives by bringing a strategic mindset and guiding modern technical solutions. You will fill a new role that sits on the data team in the technology organization. Your colleagues will include various data professionals including data architects, data engineers, data analysts, AI, Governance, and QA professionals. How you’ll help move us forward: 

Understand the strategic needs of Actuarial, Finance, and Investments business partners to: 

  • Collaborate on process design and offer recommendations. 

  • Challenge and refine end-to-end requirements based on tech capabilities. 

  • Translate business needs for Data/IT teams.  

Advocate for business stakeholders in selecting and deploying technology solutions by: 

  • Partnering on requirements and evaluating technologies. 

  • Focusing on end-to-end solutions and their integration. 

  • Creating long-term plans with Data/IT partners for sustainable tech use. 

Serve as the key contact for Actuarial, Finance, and Investments technology vendors: 

  • Manage data and process architecture with a holistic approach. 

  • Ensure alignment with enterprise data governance. 

  • Guide Data/IT teams in best design practices. 

  • Recommend solutions that address broader needs, not just immediate problems. 

  • Work with IT to build a team capable of maintaining, updating, and enhancing Actuarial, Finance, and Investments systems over time. 

 
 The experience you bring: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Information technology or related field, with a Master’s degree in Computer science or data science preferred 

  • 15+ years of experience in a high level data domain architecture role , including end-to-end data modeling, designing and building multi-dimensional enterprise data warehouses using Snowflake, Oracle or similar cloud platforms 

  • Strong communication & facilitation skills; both verbal and written 

  • Team-Oriented: Collaborating effectively with team and stakeholders 

  • Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving skills with ability to breakdown complex data solutions 

What makes you stand out: 

  • 5+ years of experience in architecting systems and data solutions for Actuarial, Finance, and Investments business domains  

  • Experience with architecting PROPHET actuarial software solutions in AWS 

  • Experience with Oracle suite of tools for Finance, Accounting, Financial Planning 

  • Experience working with cloud-based technologies  

  • Experience with automation and scripting in data delivery environment  

  • Understanding of data catalogs, glossary, data quality, and effective data governance 

  • Experience working in mission critical complex data ecosystems  

  • Actuarial domain knowledge: Understanding of actuarial principles, insurance products, and risk management practices

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.

$175,860.00 - $214,940.00
