Analytics Engineer

Salary Range: $65,000 - $90,000 /yr.

The commercial software division within Intellifi is the leading provider of mortgage valuation and software for the commercial real estate finance industry in Canada. Our clients include some of Canada’s most prominent financial institutions, investment managers and pension funds. We are seeking an experienced technology professional with excellent communication skills to join our team as an Analytics Engineer. The ideal engineer has experience working with large data sets, using MS Fabric and Power BI Service, and a solid understanding of Azure SQL databases and data modelling concepts. Role and Responsibilities:

• Design and develop end-to-end data solutions using the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem
• Implement dimensional modeling (e.g., star/snowflake schemas) to ensure accurate, efficient, and scalable semantic models
• Leverage Power Query, DAX, and SQL within Fabric/SSMS for data extraction and transformations
• Create and manage data pipelines to ingest data from diverse on-premises and cloud sources, applying best practices for cleansing, transformation, and version control
• Monitor and tune performance of queries, pipelines, and data models to ensure reliability and optimal load times
• Collaborate with other team members to align solutions with business objectives and user needs
• Maintain robust documentation for reporting assets, ensuring ease of maintenance and effective knowledge sharing
• Stay current with the latest Fabric features, continuously exploring new tools and methodologies to enhance data visualization and analytics capabilities
• Manage timelines and deliverables, effectively communicating progress, and updates to relevant stakeholders

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field; equivalent experience also considered
• Experience with core Fabric components (Power BI reports, Semantic Models, Lake Houses, Data Warehouses, Dataflow Gen2) and their use cases
• Solid understanding of dimensional data modeling principles, including star/snowflake schemas
• Proven ability to build and optimize reports, and datasets using DAX, Power Query, and related best practices
• Competency in querying and manipulating data within Azure SQL or similar relational database systems
• Experience with Git, DevOps, or equivalent tools to track and manage changes in data assets
• Knowledge of implementing data privacy, row-level security, and compliance standards
