Internship description:

We are looking for a Data Analyst intern to analyze the cycle time performance of mining trains operated by our railway subsidiary, Setrag, in Gabon. This data analysis will help identify optimization levers and continuous improvement opportunities for railway operations.

The main objective of this internship is to model the factors influencing the cycle time of mining trains by leveraging available data (travel time, maintenance, weather, slowdowns, etc.), in order to develop an analysis and performance visualization tool.

Location: Paris, France, with possible travel to Gabon

Duration: 6 months

Expected start date: April 2025

Responsibilities:

• Collect and consolidate existing data, with possible travel to Gabon to gather additional information.
• Extract and structure exogenous data (weather, logistics, etc.).
• Conduct exploratory and statistical analysis to identify correlations and influencing factors.
• Develop machine learning models in Python to explain performance variations in cycle times.
• Use explainability models to interpret results and provide recommendations.
• Propose and evaluate improvement strategies based on analysis results.

Your Profile :

• Final-year student in a Master's degree (Bac +5) in Data Science, Data Analysis, or an equivalent discipline.
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL (advanced level).
• Skills in statistical analysis and machine learning applied to industrial challenges.
• Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively (both written and verbal).
• Ability to propose and implement solutions autonomously.
• Proficiency in French (fluent) and English (intermediate).
• Interest in the industry and the railway sector would be a plus.
