Job Title: Lead GMEP Data Analyst

Department:  Grid Model Enhancement Project

Reports to: Manager - Project Management Office
Location: In Office,  Rochester NY, Augusta ME, Orange CT, Binghamton NY

The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from: $85,900 - $107,375

Position Overview: The Data Analyst will play a crucial role in supporting the Grid Model Enhancement Project (GMEP) in work that results in the most accurate SAP and GIS data. This position involves working closely with our vendor and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless data collection and integration, ultimately supporting our mission to optimize electric distribution operations. We are looking for a highly skilled Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst who has strong technical skills. You will be responsible for developing and designing dashboards, reports, ensuring the responsiveness of applications, working alongside business stakeholders and product owners. This role will require extensive data analysis experience identifying data inaccuracies in systems, data, and images.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Power BI Dashboard Development:

    • Collaborate with data scientists to design and build KPI dashboards using Power BI.

    • Transform data into compelling visuals and empowering business users with actionable insights.

    • Document data processes, methodologies, and dashboard functionalities for future reference and training purposes.

    • Troubleshoot and maintain Bi solutions, ensuring Dashboards run smoothly.

  • Data Extraction:

    • Extract data from SAP and other relevant data sources.

    • Ensure data is accurately and efficiently pulled to meet project requirements.

  • Data Cleansing:

    • Perform data cleansing to ensure data quality and integrity.

    • Identify and rectify data inconsistencies and errors.

  • Data Transfers:

    • Transfers data to Vendors.

  • Data Analysis:

    • Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.

    • Analyze data using Excel and Microsoft Access to report out on ad-hoc requests for analysis.

    • Identifying data inaccuracies in systems and comparing data against images.

  • Data Acceptance Activities:

    • Lead data acceptance testing to validate data integration processes.

    • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure data meets business requirements and standards.

  • Collaboration and Communication:

    • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, SAP, GIS, and engineering and planning groups

    • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand data needs and provide updates on project progress.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, or a related field and three to five years of relevant work experience, or an Associate’s degree in Data Science, or a related field and five plus years of relevant work experience, or ten years of relevant work experience.

  • Understanding of data extraction processes and data warehousing concepts.

  • Experience with building and refining Power BI Dashboards

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Data cleansing and data quality management skills.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in SAP data extraction.

  • Experience with GIS systems.

  • Experience in the utility or energy sector.

  • Experience with data integration projects.

  • Knowledge of SQL and other data manipulation languages.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Access.

  • Familiarity with data governance, data security, and compliance standards.
