What you'll do...

Position: Senior Data Scientist

Job Location: 680 W. California Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA 94086

Duties: Design and implement large-scale machine learning models for personalizing customer experience and product recommendations on Walmart.com and its other online businesses. Build statistical modelling solutions for problems such as online decision making, content targeting and ranking, prediction, and classification. Develop faster converging multi-variate optimization models to scale muti-arm bandit-based experimentation platforms to support testing capabilities across hundreds of tests running simultaneously across the website. Build interactive dashboards for experimentation platforms showcasing model performance and optimization. Participate in agile scrum teams within the Personalization group and adhere to best practices for software development.

Minimum education and experience required: Master’s degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or related field and 1 year of experience in an analytics related field; OR Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or related field and 3 years of experience in an analytics related field. 

Skills required: Experience building data pipelines for collecting, analyzing, and managing data sets using Apache Spark, Hive, Hadoop, and MySQL. Experience developing and deploying data science solutions on cloud computing platforms including GCP and AWS. Experience building and evaluating recommender system techniques by utilizing methods including collaborative filtering, factorization machine, and sequential modeling. Experience utilizing advanced statistical and reinforcement learning techniques for recommendation systems, hypothesis testing, and time series forecasting. Experience developing and implementing large-scale deep learning models using Pytorch and TensorFlow. Experience utilizing GPU to accelerate machine learning and deep learning models including CUDA, CUDNN, CUDF, CUML, and RAPIDS. Experience designing and querying relational and non-relational databases using SQL and MongoDB. Experience using object-oriented programming in Python and shell scripting. Experience developing CI/CD pipelines and writing production grade code with unit testing tools and code quality control tools including Pytest, flake8, and SonarQube. Experience with Supervised and Unsupervised machine learning algorithms including regression, Decision Tree, and KNN and their application in solving real world problems using Python libraries including Scikit-learn, Numpy, and Pandas. Experience designing and managing data science experiments using A/B testing, factorial design, multi-armed bandit, and t-tests. Experience using data visualization tools and libraries including Tableau, TensorBoard, Seaborn, and Matplotlib for exploratory data analysis and interpreting model performance and results. Experience with code, task, and documentation management software including Git, Jira, and Confluence. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.

Salary Range: $138,911/year to $234,000/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location) and Stock equity incentives.
