Data Science Intern

General Summary

With the internship program, Risk Management is looking for multi-talented, ambitious students who are interested in joining Elevate on an ongoing basis or after graduation.  Risk is responsible for underwriting, forecasting, modeling, fraud, collections and technologies across our products and an intern could potentially be exposed to all kinds of opportunities throughout an internship. Qualified candidates should have strong analytical skills. SAS, R, Python, Tableau, PowerBI, Excel, SQL knowledge preferred. The candidate will gain valuable hands on experience while working on consumer lending products.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Utilize internal and 3rd party data to identify opportunities to increase the value of the credit portfolios via predictive models and strategy development
• Efficiently apply data mining methodologies to minimize credit/fraud losses, develop methods to enhance profitability of Elevate products, and improve short-term and long-term financial forecast accuracy
• Perform Metrics Reporting (daily, weekly, monthly)
• Analyze Reports
• Maintain/enhance custom tools utilized by Risk and Verifications teams
• Work with internal constituents to understand business requirements and goals and help capture the strategy, forecast, content, and feature deliverables
• Assess, clean, merge, and analyze large datasets adhering to standardized data manipulation techniques and methodology by leveraging R or Python;

Qualifications

• Junior, Senior, or Graduate student in a Master’s program in the following areas of study with a minimum GPA of 3.2 (Analytics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Business, or similar)
• Working knowledge of a programming language used to extract, manipulate, and analyze data, such as SAS, R, Python, or similar.
• Fluency with the Microsoft Office suite, Tableau/PowerBI is a plus
• Comfortable in a fast-pace environment, working across multiple projects simultaneously
