As a Senior Staff Software Engineer (m/f/d) Machine Vison, you will drive innovation in surgical navigation, shaping the technology roadmap and overseeing its implementation. You will build the team's expertise in machine learning and machine vision, guiding the development, optimization, and successful deployment of the final product. What you will do:

  • Drive innovation in surgical navigation by joining our international R&D team.

  • Own the technology roadmap for Machine Vision, lead its implementation, and expand the area to technology leadership.

  • Oversee the entire development process for image-based localization and evaluation components, from concept to series production.

  • Analyze requirements in the application environment, design concepts, and execute implementations while ensuring compliance with regulated documentation standards.

  • Collaborate with internal and international teams, partner with external institutes, and serve as a key interface to our team.

What you will need:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Masters’ degree in the field of computer science, electrical engineering, robotics or a comparable discipline (PhD desirable).

  • Several years of professional experience in machine learning and computer vision with a track record of successful industry projects.

  • Excellent programming skills in Python and C++.

  • Proven experience in at least one major machine learning framework (Py-)Torch, Tensorflow, etc. and image processing frameworks like OpenCV etc.

  • Experience in MLOps and model deployment with ONNX Runtime or TensorRT round off your profile

  • Excellent English language skills, enabling seamless collaboration with global stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Medical device experience is a plus but not required.

Additional information 

Thanks to our flexible working hours model, you will have the opportunity to work partially from the home office. However, a regular presence of 1 day a week on site in Freiburg should be always given to build sustainable relationships and maintain personal contact with colleagues as well as the departments.
