We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Data Governance COE Senior Manager to lead the implementation of our data catalog initiative. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the development, deployment, and management of a comprehensive Enterprise Data Catalog that will enhance data discovery, governance, and utilization across the organization. The Data Governance COE Senior Manager is critical to the success of Huntington’s journey to being a data driven organization.
The Data Governance Center of Excellence (COE) is responsible for establishing and maintaining high standards for data management across the organization. This includes defining a clear vision and strategy aligned with organizational goals, securing top management commitment, and engaging stakeholders. The COE develops and enforces data governance policies, appoints data stewards, and implements processes to monitor and improve metadata quality. Additionally, it provides training to foster a data-driven culture and continuously refines practices to adapt to changing business needs. By ensuring effective data management and governance frameworks, the COE supports better decision-making and improved business outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implementation Leadership: Oversee the end-to-end implementation of the data catalog, including people, process, and technology, while ensuring alignment with organizational goals and data governance policies.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with Segment Data Officers, data subject matter experts, data engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand business objectives, assess data catalog needs, drive data custodianship, and to ensure the data catalog roadmap aligns to business requirements.
- Business Requirements Gathering: Facilitate the collection and documentation of business requirements to ensure the data catalog aligns with user needs and the organization’s strategic objectives and priorities.
- Data Catalog Product Management: Own the strategy and roadmap for the data catalog, ensuring it evolves to meet the changing needs of the organization and supports business objectives.
- Data Catalog Governance: Establish and enforce data catalog governance policies and procedures to ensure data quality, security, and compliance.
- Data Custodianship and Curation: Oversee the custodianship and curation of data within the catalog, ensuring data is accurately classified, tagged, and maintained according to policy and procedures.
- User Adoption, Training, and Support: Develop and deliver training programs to ensure users are proficient in using the data catalog and understand its benefits to foster wide-spread enterprise adoption.
- Continuous Improvement: Monitor the effectiveness of the data catalog and implement improvements based on user feedback and evolving business needs.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Provide regular updates to senior leadership on the progress, challenges, and successes of the data catalog implementation.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, business Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science, or Engineering
- 10+ years of experience working with data, metadata and reference data frameworks, and experience in metadata and/or data quality monitoring
- 7+ years of experience leading work efforts and managing toward deadlines, and developing high-performing teams
- 7+ years of hands-on management experience with a proven track record of leading and growing successful data teams
- 7+ years of management experience with a proven track record of leading and growing successful data teams
- 5+ years of experience in strategy, management consulting, or similar skillset
- 5+ years of deep experience in successfully implementing and managing data catalog tools (i.e., Alation, Collibra, Informatica) and delivering frameworks for roles, responsibilities, and sustainable processes for data catalog governance
- 2+ of expertise in managing data domains, developing taxonomies, and creating ontologies to enhance metadata organization and usability
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience with data management concepts including data governance, data quality, master data management, data lineage, metadata management
- Business acumen in relating data to business process drivers and performance management
