Co-op: Controls Engineering, Hand Control

Your New Role and TeamSanctuary, a world leader in building AI-based control systems for humanoid robots, is looking to hire a skilled and motivated Controls Engineering co-op to join our Controls team. In this role, you will focus on developing and implementing cutting-edge control systems for our highly dexterous robotic hands. This is a hands-on opportunity to contribute to the future of robotics while working with a multidisciplinary team of engineers.

Our Success Criteria

• Develop and implement controllers for robotic hands using MATLAB/Simulink, C++, and Python.
• Integrate software solutions with physical hardware in robotic systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and test control systems.
• Contribute to project documentation and management using tools like Confluence and Jira.
• Ensure the robustness and reliability of control systems through iterative testing and optimization.

Your ExperienceQualifications
• Pursuing a Master’s or PhD in Robotics or a related field (Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, etc.), or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience developing software for robotic systems on physical hardware.

Skills
• Strong experience with MATLAB/Simulink for controller development.
• Proficiency in C++ and Python programming.
• Knowledge of machine learning techniques is an asset (e.g., Reinforcement Learning, Imitation Learning, Behavior Cloning).
• Knowledge of multibody rigid body dynamics and robot control is an asset.
• Experience with kinematics and dynamics libraries for robotics is an asset (e.g., Pinocchio, Drake, MuJoCo).
• Familiarity with Confluence, Jira, and project management tools is an asset.
