Cloud Engineering Intern

Please Note: This is a Utah-based hybrid position which will require some regular in-office days each week. Additionally, employment with BambooHR is contingent on passing both a background and credit check. 

What You'll Do

• As a Cloud Engineering Intern, you'll help set up and take care of our containerized systems in the cloud. You'll work with different teams to make sure our cloud services are reliable, can grow with our needs, and are secure. We’re looking for someone who loves working with cloud and container technologies, is good at solving problems, and enjoys a busy work environment.
  In this role, you'll need to know the basics of cloud systems and how to set them up. You'll handle problems and find out what went wrong using different tools and methods to make our cloud services more reliable. You might work on different projects, so you'll need to think clearly, use what you’ve learned, and work well with a team.

You will: 

• Set up and manage container focused services in the cloud to allow the company’s apps and tools to work smoothly.
• Work with software developers and system admins to make sure these cloud services fit well with our existing systems.
• Implement security measures for the cloud, like controlling who can access data, encrypting information, and monitoring for threats to keep our data safe and meet regulations.
• Monitor and improve the performance of cloud systems to ensure they run efficiently and are cost-effective.
• Use tools and scripts to automate repetitive tasks and make deployment processes quicker and easier.
• Solve problems with cloud infrastructure to reduce downtime and keep services running smoothly.
• Keep up with new cloud technologies and best practices to see if they can improve our infrastructure.

What We’ll Love About You 

• Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Computer Engineering, or another technology related field
• Some experience with Linux, cloud services, or DevOps.
• Basic skills in setting up and managing cloud services using AWS.
• Understanding of basic networking ideas like TCP/IP, DNS, and how load balancing works.
• Ability to write simple scripts and automate tasks using Python, Bash, or similar languages.
• Know-how to keep cloud environments secure and follow good security practices.
• Good at working with others and communicating clearly in a team.

What Will Make Us REALLY Love You

• Familiarity with using Docker for containers and Kubernetes for managing them.
• Technical certifications (like AWS Certified Solutions Architect or CKA) are a plus.
• Experience with GitHub Actions and Hashicorp Terraform are also a bonus.
