About the RoleRedhorse transforms the way government uses data and technology. We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to provide critical analytical support to our clients. This role involves identifying, assessing, and addressing external requirements for analytic support, delivering innovative solutions, and directly contributing to mission success. You will play a vital role in shaping Redhorse's data-driven approach to problem-solving for high-stakes government initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify new, and assess external requirements for analytic support, determining the appropriate course of action for client consideration.
  • Identify necessary data, document the methodology, document results, and determine classifications and handling restrictions for resulting products.
  • Build statistical models, test hypotheses, interpret, summarize, visualize, and succinctly report on data findings.
  • Perform research on various data sources, including unstructured data using quantitative and qualitative content analytics.
  • Construct and perform complex database search queries in multiple databases using SQL and API interfaces.
  • Perform web scraping and apply various techniques for processing unstructured data.
  • Leverage automation and machine learning to manage data, predict scenarios, and make recommendations.
  • Contribute to building new analytical tools and packages across the enterprise and collaborate with team members in a highly technical environment.
  • Learn and leverage emerging technologies, including AWS and Git.
  • Write ad-hoc code on very short timelines to address new circumstances.
  • Deliver new methodologies, solutions, capabilities, and products to derive more accurate value from data.
  • Perform data modeling for integration of new data, refining existing models, and creating new models to support existing and new analytic methodologies.
  • Support forward deployment requirements, working autonomously within other departments to understand challenges, requirements, and leverage data collection capabilities for direct support.

Required Experience/Clearance

  • 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, running, and analyzing results of complex queries against data stores and data processing environments.
  • Demonstrated experience manipulating structured and unstructured data to perform analysis and generate reporting and products.
  • Demonstrated experience using analytic techniques and tools to perform analytic support.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and using data processing technologies such as Python, SQL, ECL, MongoDB, Jenkins, PyPi, Terraform, Cloudera, and ElasticSearch to perform data processing.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, validating, and using methodologies to support analytic requirements in Clustered Computing environments.
  • US citizenship with an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance required.

Desired Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience using Enterprise Control Language (ECL) and the Lexis-Nexis High Performance Cluster Computing (HPCC) platform.
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining data flows in NiFi or Pentaho or Java.
