Vector Solutions is searching for a responsible, organized, and relationship-oriented person that is seeking a part-time, paid research internship position that allows them to grow professionally as well as contribute to our team goals and organizational mission. This individual will be asked to: process, organize, manage, analyze, and explain data; assist with the development of existing and new customer deliverables; engage in all stages of the research process; and work as a positive, proactive, and collaborative teammate. This position begins in early 2025, and the Research Intern will report to Vector Solutions’ Education Sector Research Lead.    


What You'll Do:

  • Create programming solutions (use of R, Python, or other programming languages) in order to make certain data analyses more efficient 
  • Collaborate with and support the Research Lead on various types of quantitative data analyses for teammates as well as external partners and customers 
  • Contribute to quality assurance processes for various customer deliverables (e.g., research reports, visualizations of data)  
  • Contribute to publications related to research projects (e.g., white papers, submissions for academic publication) 
  • Communicate positively, professionally, and promptly with Research Lead and other Vector team members, as needed 
  • Keep records (i.e., notes) of all meetings and progress on projects 
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external partners regularly in order to achieve team goals   

Requirements

  • Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics, or a social science field (e.g., psychology) with a quantitative research focus 
  • Strongly Preferred: Master’s degree in data science, statistics, or a social science field (e.g., psychology) with a quantitative research focus or significant research and data analysis experience gained either during the undergraduate experience or since graduation   
  • Skills Required: Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, OneDrive, SharePoint, Excel, Teams) and experience with data management and analysis using SPSS and/or other statistical analysis packages 
  • Strongly Preferred: Experience with R and/or Python (or other programming languages)  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Please be prepared to provide an example demonstrating writing ability 
  • Collaborative mindset while also demonstrating an ability to work alone to accomplish projects in a timely manner 
  • Energetic and eager to learn and tackle new projects; a problem-solving mentality
