Your opportunity:

Under the general direction of the Director, Planning, Data & Analysis, the incumbent provides business intelligence solutions to support Undergraduate admissions, strategic enrollment initiatives at the Faculty of Arts & Science. The incumbent will utilize these business intelligence solutions to optimize financial planning and monitoring of the Faculty's expenditures. The incumbent will engage clients to understand business needs and translate requirements into institutional datasets, reporting and analytics products that generate insights for the Faculty’s performance and resource allocations. These applications will require a variety of technical skills including SQL, Python, and R, or SAS, as well as visualization technologies such as Tableau and PowerBI. The incumbent will work closely with colleagues within the larger Data Team, the Office of the Faculty Registrar, other Dean’s Office units and UG Academic units within the Faculty of Arts & Science to operationalize data and analytics products.

Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Overseeing the financial management of budgets that include strategic planning, analysis and forecasting
  • Analyzing complex statistical reports and/or financial information for management decision-making
  • Analyzing financial trends and preparing analytical reports and forecasts for management decision making
  • Providing advice and data to support the development of business cases and analytics for departmental initiatives
  • Determining key performance indicators to measure success
  • Developing task schedules in concert with project schedules
  • Delivering presentations on financial data and models to clients and/or senior management

 

Essential Qualifications:

 

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in HumanResources, Business or Data Analytics and a recent and related Professional Designation or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five years experience in providing development and design expertise in working with strategic enrollment management and financial data analytics projects.
  • Demonstrated experience working with large and complex data sets as well as experience analyzing volumes of data.
  • Working and conceptual knowledge of building and maintaining physical and logical data models.
  • Experience researching, developing, and implementing strategies for business development. Experience researching and creating performance indicators for financial resource allocation.
  • Experience with leading presentations, meetings, and workshops to formulate business and financial requirements.
  • Experience with systems design to capture and translate ideas into workable solutions.
  • Experience preparing complex data modelling to support enrollment planning and strategies
  • Ability to develop a strong understanding of undergraduate education as it relates to the application of strategic enrollment management best practices and processes for data analysis and leveraging technology.
  • Experience with Big Data cloud solutions such as Microsoft Azure – Data Factory, Data Bricks.
  • Knowledge of post-secondary course and program processes, policies, and industry trends is highly desirable.
  • Experience and high fluency in the use oftools including Python, SQL programming skills, Tableau and/or PowerBI development.
  • Familiarity with Student Information Systems and undergraduate education tools.
  • Understanding of machine learning capabilities and how to implement models.
  • Strong understanding of agile methodology.
  • Exceptional analytical skills.
  • Strong presentation skills and storytelling skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to translate business questions into data driven solutions.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to nontechnical audiences.
