Johns Hopkins, founded in 1876, is America's first research university and home to nine world-class academic divisions working together as one universityThe Johns Hopkins University Krieger School of Arts and Sciences (KSAS) is seeking a casual Research Assistant in the Department of Mathematics. Under the supervision of a faculty investigator, the Research Assistant will conduct research, execute coding tasks, analyze data, collaborate with research partners, and assist with writing research papers. This is a hybrid position and is expected to last approximately six months.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform research in the areas of stochastic processes, control systems, and probabilistic and statistical techniques in machine learning.
- When the research projects in the above directions require it, collect and analyze corresponding data sets, generate data through computer simulations, and write code for the analysis of data sets by implementing the statistical techniques developed in the research phase.
- Assist with the writing and editing of manuscripts.
- Present research projects and their results at meetings and conferences.
- Assist with tasks on other research projects as required.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline.
- Additional related experience may substitute for required education to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics.
- Previous research in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics preferred but not required.
- Some coding knowledge in any of Python, Matlab, C, R or similar languages.

Starting Salary Range: $17.20 - $23.75 - $30.30 HRLY (Commensurate w/exp.)

Schedule: Monday through Friday; may work some weekends; hours are as needed
