Working Student Software Development

The Fraunhofer Institute for Open Communication Systems FOKUS is one of the largest ICT institutes in the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft.

To strengthen our business unit “Software-based Networks“ (NGNI), we are seeking motivated working students to support our team in the field of software development, starting as soon as possible.

What you will do

You will support us in software development in the following areas:

• Software tests and deployment of testbeds
• Work on the further development of Open5GCore (www.open5GCore.org), in particular for the realization of software-based demonstration prototypes
• Work on the Open6GCore platform (www.open6gcore.org) for the implementation of a 6G core network
• Evaluation and validation of the latest telecommunications technologies and concepts

What you bring to the table

• You are an enrolled student for at least one more year, especially in the field of business informatics, data science or computer engineering
• You have a basic understanding of networks and telecommunications networks
• You have advanced programming skills in C under Linux operating systems and debugging (gdb)
• Good programming skills in RUST or Python and basic knowledge of Git

The wage depends on the progress of your studies and is between 15.74 € and 17.27 € per hour.

The monthly working time is 60 - 80 hours. The contract is limited to one year. In general, we are interested in a longer-term collaboration.
