Your Role in Our VisionArene is a transformative software platform that enables the rapid development, deployment, and continuous improvement of software-defined vehicles. Our data platform provides a secure and scalable cloud infrastructure for data generated during the development of these vehicles, empowering data-driven decisions and accelerating product innovation. We are dedicated to supporting the Toyota Production System, driving customer value, and reducing time-to-market.
As part of this mission, you will collaborate closely with the Arene SDK Vehicle Data Team, playing a pivotal role in driving and implementing their software architecture, and enabling the next generation of autonomous driving technologies.
Who We're Looking ForWe're looking for an experienced Data Engineering Architect with a deep understanding of data systems, cloud infrastructure, and a strong grasp of machine learning and autonomous driving technologies. You should be an expert in designing and implementing data-intensive applications and comfortable navigating complex technical and organizational landscapes to deliver high-impact solutions.
Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, this hybrid role allows you to enjoy the best of both worlds—collaborating with talented colleagues in the office at least three days a week while benefiting from flexible working arrangements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Shape the Future of Data-Driven Mobility: Architect and implement advanced frameworks for data engineering, databases, stream processing, and cloud infrastructure, enabling cutting-edge autonomous driving capabilities.
• Lead Architectural Excellence: Develop high-level product specifications and design documents in collaboration with tech leads, product managers, and engineers, ensuring alignment with Arene's Chief Engineer Office and adherence to best practices.
• Innovate Through Prototyping: Create Proofs of Concept (POCs) to validate architectural decisions and reduce risks, guiding teams towards successful implementation.
• Support & Guide: Work closely with development teams throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), providing technical guidance and ensuring the software product meets both functional and non-functional requirements.
• Champion Best Practices: Define and implement "fitness functions" for your software product to systematically validate its quality, and drive consensus on engineering practices and architecture decisions across teams.
• Hands-On Contribution: Write, test, debug, and optimize software, leveraging your deep technical expertise to support the engineering team in delivering high-quality solutions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Educational Foundation: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (Master's preferred).
• Extensive Experience: Over 10 years of proven experience in designing and implementing data-intensive applications and evolutionary architectures.
• Technical Proficiency: Expertise in Python, Java/Kotlin, JS/TS, Terraform, AWS, Kubernetes, or similar technologies.
• Analytical & Strategic Mindset: Ability to see the big picture while delving into the details, with a deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, and modern software development practices.
• Inclusive & Empathetic Leadership: Skilled at navigating technical, business, and organizational challenges, you bring a collaborative and empathetic approach to leadership.
• Cultural Awareness & Openness: Passionate about working in multicultural teams and valuing diverse perspectives.

NICE TO HAVES

• Experience with Autonomous Driving (AD/ADAS) systems, MLOps, Vector Databases, and related technologies.
• Knowledge of data regulations (e.g., GDPR), data privacy, and data governance.
• Proficiency in describing software architectures using UML and SysML.
• Ability to mentor and grow engineering teams.
• Japanese communication skills are a plus.
