What you’ll do:

Background:
Tempus is leading the way in precision oncology and smart diagnostics. Our solutions lean into an extensive real world data library of 8M+ records and growing. Much of this data is curated using robust human abstraction processes, which creates a verified representation of patients clinical journey and serves as a backbone for the vast multimodal data library that Tempus offers for research and discovery purposes. 

Clinical data abstraction is our core process supporting every business unit and involves a number of complex workstreams that require near real time reporting and analytics. Recent AI advances have also positioned abstractions to be on the precipice of further transformation as we look to established AI-enabled workflows as well focus on AI evaluation support. 

Responsibilities:

  • Design, manage, refactor, and enhance SQL/DBT based business intelligence systems to streamline daily operations for our real-world clinical data abstraction team.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to create and optimize data structures and pipelines, ensuring seamless delivery of critical operational insights across the organization.
  • Partner with senior leadership to analyze business trends and surface actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making.
  • Monitor and analyze incoming request volumes and profiles to uncover customer needs and inform process improvements.
  • Maintain and enhance codebases while ensuring thorough documentation to support long-term scalability and efficiency.

Skills:

  • Highly proficient in SQL/DBT, Python, R and database management 
  • Highly proficient in data science, RWD analytics, clinical data model design
  • 5+ years of experience in clinical informatics, RWD 
  • Experience leading technical initiatives end to end in matrixed organization 
  • Experience managing stakeholders with competing priorities

The expected salary range below is applicable if the role is performed from [Illinois] and may vary for other locations. Actual salary may vary based on qualifications and experience. Tempus offers a full range of benefits, which may include incentive compensation, restricted stock units, medical and other benefits, depending on the position.

Illinois Pay Range$120,000—$180,000 USD
