This challenge awaits you:
Are you a master’s student in engineering, physics, computer science, or a related field with interest in Deep Learning and knowledge / physics informed models? We have a fantastic opportunity for a talented and motivated student to join our team and help us adapt and develop Knowledge Informed Neural Networks (PINNs, PI-DeepONets, PINO, …) for use as simulation replacement models, e.g. in battery development or wind power applications.
Your Tasks:
- You prove the feasibility and development of knowledge-based neural network models that replace/accompany “classic” FEM-, CFD- etc. based simulation models.
- You will document the experiments and methodology.
- You will work together with our team and exchange ideas with IAV's research departments.
Necessary Skills:
- Ongoing Master's degree in engineering, physics, computer science or a related field
- Knowledge of scientific computing, preferably in Python
- Basic understanding of typical partial differential equations (Poisson, wave equation, CFD, ...)
- Experience with DL frameworks and scientific modules (Torch, TensorFlow, ...)
- Familiarity with tools for collaborative software development (e.g. git)
- Fluency in English or German to at least C1 level
Desired Skills:
- Experience with knowledge-informed neural network models (PINNs, PI-DeepONets, PINO, ...)
- Basic intuition for physical processes and plausibility of simulation results
- Knowledge of working on remote machines (Docker, Kubernetes, ssh)
Remuneration is based on our collective wage and salary agreement. The current hourly wage for this position is EUR 17.52.
