Job Description

We are a leading cloud division specializing in SQL for the cloud. Our team is dedicated to delivering innovative solutions and seamless migrations from on-premises SQL environments to the cloud. We are looking for a talented SQL Analyst with strong DBA skills and analytical expertise to join our dynamic team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for day-to-day activities regarding the upkeep and availability of all database servers in the environment including lower environments
• Serve as SME (subject matter expert) for Microsoft SQL Server and other database technologies.
• Responsible for database backup and restore functions including scheduled tests of DR availability, including knowledge of MS SQL restoration and availability technologies such as Clustering, Replication and especially Always-On.
• MS SQL production database level performance tuning.
• Participates in SQL code-reviews for the application teams to enforce SQL coding standards.
• Builds and reports on SQL environment performance and availability metrics and takes appropriate actions to implement best practices and optimize performance.
• Assist in the technical analysis and design for current and future projects.
• Participate in MS SQL migration to Azure project.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Strong and demonstrable experience as DBA in large-scale MS SQL environments.
• Experience with MS Azure and MS Azure managed instance databases.
• Documented hands-on expertise managing high-volume instances of MS SQL setups featuring high availability (Always on availability groups, Replication etc).
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to get to the route of an issue quickly.
• Develop and establish policies and procedures related to data security and integrity; monitor and limit database access as needed.
• Ensure all database servers are managed to Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).
• Document the company’s database environment.
• Experience in writing automation scripts, building application dashboards for proactive monitoring using Ruby, PowerShell, Python scripting or similar technologies, ability to debug and optimize code and automate routine tasks
• Experience with database storage engines and master-slave replication principles and practices.
• Experience with CI/CD in cloud environments and container technology, Docker and Kubernetes, Docker Swarm.
• Good communication and coordination skills and able to work efficiently under pressure.

•  Experience with additional cloud services and tools.
•  Knowledge of other programming languages (e.g., Python, R) for data analysis.
• Experience with DevOps practices and tools.

Other requirements

• Experience in networking environment is an asset.
• Postgres SQL management.
• MySQL management
