Job Description

NielsenIQ is looking for a Senior Data Analyst (QA) to join our Financial Services Technology team. 

At NIQ, the Financial Services team uses alternative datasets to help global public equity investors (hedge funds, mutual funds, pension funds) make better investment decisions. We work with some of the largest hedge funds in the world.  

We are looking for a Data Analyst to join our Financial Services Engineering team. As a Data Analyst you will be at the cutting edge of the alternative data space where you will develop market research products by gleaning valuable insights from a large set of diverse data sets. These insights are hidden within large amounts of data, and it is our goal to identify and separate the meaningful trends and patterns from the noise by applying statistical methods, big data technologies and high-level programming languages. In this role, you would also get the opportunity to work with world-class big data and cloud services, such as: AWS, Snowflake, Databricks, DBT, Airflow, and Looker. Responsibilities  

  • Develop and implement comprehensive testing strategies for data products, including data feeds, reports, and dashboards.  
  • Use business intelligence/visualization tools to identify, investigate, and resolve anomalies within our data products.  
  • Conduct daily and weekly data quality checks to ensure data integrity.  
  • Oversee and support testing and quality activities within an Agile environment, including application testing and UAT.  
  • Review functional specifications to create detailed test procedures and plans.  
  • Develop and maintain test scripts for end-to-end quality management.  
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and high-quality deliverables.  

Qualifications

Education  

  • Minimum B.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field from a top ranked university.  

Technical Skills  

  • 5+ years of experience in testing, with a strong background in testing data (e.g. reports, dashboards, data feeds, etc.).  
  • Proven experience working with Data Engineering and QA teams.  
  • Proficiency in writing SQL queries and scripting languages such as Python.  
  • Familiarity with defining data quality metrics, data profiling, data cleansing, data reconciliation, data anomaly detection. 
  • Familiarity with automation of data quality process and implementation of data validation and testing throughout the data engineering lifecycle. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.  
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
