Overview

LMI is seeking a skilled Health Policy and Compliance Data Analyst. Position is on the staff of a private, government consulting firm located in Tysons, VA. Work is sponsored by Federal Government departments and agencies, including the Department of Health and Human Services. This position may be performed remotely in the United States.  

  

The successful applicant will become part of a team dedicated to policy, operations, and analytical support work for the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), specifically the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

The ideal applicant will also have experience and/or interest in supporting business system development efforts, such as familiarity with JIRA and/or Confluence systems, following and/or preparing test plans, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to formulate business system requirements and translate operational/policy needs into software systems.  

Responsibilities

This individual will serve as a supporting analyst for two coordinated program efforts, respectively focused on compliance operational and business system requirement support for a new payment model (ACO Primary Care Flex) within the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) at CMS. Specific responsibilities include:    

 

  • Supporting efforts to operationalize and maintain compliance monitoring strategy and activities:  
  • Analyze healthcare and compliance data as well as technical documents using spreadsheets or other analytical tools to identify instances of noncompliance whereby program requirements have not been met 
  • Draft and maintain new operational plans (guidance documents, instructions, and standard operating procedures) as well as public-facing and CMS-internal documents to support program operations 
  • Produce detailed findings reports summarizing method, scope, and results of document reviews and/or data analyses and recommending next steps as well as briefings/deliverables based on client request in a manner that is easily understood and interpreted by non-technical stakeholders  
  • Proactively identify and walk clients through complex data and program operations specific concerns and downstream effects  
  • Supporting a software testing team focused on the ACO Primary Care Flex Model: 
  • Discuss policy implications and client needs with software developers to help develop an intuitive management system  
  • Understand complex and organization-specific datasets  
  • Perform analyses to answer routine and ad hoc questions about program operations, health policy, system functionality and be able to explain the significance of those analyses to non-technical stakeholders  
  • Communicate with systems development experts to design tools and applications to automate the fulfillment of repeat requests  
  • Commit to supporting cross-functional teamwork  
  • Exemplify an outstanding client service ethic and a desire to consistently improve in an organization that is dedicated to excellence  
  • Deliver on tight deadlines and effectively communicate with team members when additional support is needed  

Qualifications

Required: 

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2-4 years of experience in data analysis, data visualization, and reporting in a client-facing role
  • Experience with and interest in health policy and/or compliance audits and monitoring
  • Strong Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) skills required
  • Superior communication and writing skills on technical subjects. Ability to provide narrative context of data analysis to a non-technical audience.  
  • Ability to engage all appropriate stakeholders in the software design phase and articulate requirements 
  • Have a quality assurance mindset that helps make the testing team more effective 
  • Ability to help design and write test plans and procedures, analyze test results and develop and review code as necessary 
  • Experience with documenting bugs in Jira and providing test reports 
  • Experience producing high quality analytical deliverables with both short-term (i.e., 1 hour) and longer-term (i.e., 1+ months) lead times.  

Desired:  

  • Master’s degree or higher  
  • 2-4 years’ experience in federal consulting.  
  • 2-4 years’ experience writing automated processes in Python, R or a similar language.  
  • Experience with Scrum and/or Agile methodology  
  • Experience communicating business requirements to system development experts.  
  • 2-4 years of experience in software integration or software testing

 

Target salary range: $50,000 - $80,000
