The Opportunity

This opportunity is best suited for candidates in their penultimate/ final year of study looking for an internship commencing in June 2025 and concluding in August 2025.

We are seeking a motivated student for an internship focused on developing a tool (Python module or Jupyter Notebook) for analysing and visualising forecasts generated by various predictive models. In this role, the primary focus will be on Intraday Price Predict, a high-frequency model (updating frequency of one minute) that operates with real-time power generation and trading data.

In addition to tool development, you will contribute to analytical reporting, integrating fundamental input data with model predictions to provide meaningful insights within the current market situation.

This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in predictive analytics, real-time data processing, and fundamental power markets modeling.

Requirements

Studying towards a Bachelor’s degree or professional qualification with a statistics, mathematics, informatics, physics, energy/power, engineering, finance, or a related field.

Wood Mackenzie follows a hybrid work structure, however, during the duration of this internship, the successful candidate would highly benefit from being in the office frequently with the team and their line manager.

Applicants must have the legal Right to Work in the country this role is based in. We are unable to sponsor employment visas at this time.

  • Great written and verbal communication
  • Willingness to learn about our business from the ground up
  • Programming competence in Python
  • Basic knowledge of AWS is desired but not required.
