Data Engineer

Job Description

We are looking for a Data Engineer to join us at HelloFresh Nordics. Working in the Operations Tech team, you will take a leading role in designing, building, and maintaining data-driven solutions that directly impact our daily operations at HelloFresh. You will be instrumental in developing reliable data pipelines, internal applications, and infrastructure that empower our operational teams to move quickly and effectively—while keeping a sharp eye on quality and operational stability.

In this role, you will design and optimize data pipelines in Databricks or Airflow on Kubernetes (primarily in Python, with some SQL), develop and maintain Streamlit apps (with a Postgres backend), and leverage Terraform + GitHub Workflows for infrastructure and CI/CD. You’ll work closely with our teams to ensure our systems are robust, scalable, and always ready for operational needs.

• This role is in-office at our Regional HQ at Islands Brygge, Copenhagen.
• You’ll join a close-knit team of four engineers, one student assistant, and a Technical Product Manager.

You will…

• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines using Databricks or Airflow on Kubernetes.
• Develop and deploy Streamlit applications on Kubernetes, backed by Postgres, to streamline operational workflows.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-tested Python code, ensuring high-quality standards in a code-first organization.
• Manage infrastructure using Terraform and configure CI/CD pipelines via GitHub Workflows.
• Work with AWS services such as S3 and Glue to store, process, and transform data.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., logistics, procurement, production) to gather requirements, implement solutions, and support operational systems.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize both data pipelines and internal apps to ensure minimal downtime and quick recovery from incidents.
• Contribute to an agile, detail-oriented culture, balancing speed with the need for robust and dependable operational systems.

You have…

• 2+ years of experience in a Data Engineering (or comparable) role.
• Strong Python programming skills, with a focus on writing maintainable and testable code.
• Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with databases (preferably Postgres).
• Experience with orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow) and containerized environments (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Hands-on knowledge of cloud resources (preferably AWS)
• Exposure to Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform) and experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Workflows).
• Knowledge of operations and supply chain management (not mandatory but definitely a bonus)
• Good communication skills in English, comfortable collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• A detail-oriented mindset—capable of ensuring operational stability in a fast-paced environment where mistakes can have immediate impact.
• A proactive, problem-solving attitude that thrives in an agile and continuously changing work environment.
