Summary:
Manages junior full-stack developers and ML/AI engineers to develop applications. Develops and manages schedules for major software releases. Leads and provides technical guidance for the entire software development cycle, including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and documentation. Coordinates all team activities, including interfaces with the product, vendor, quality assurance, and customer support teams. Managed processes and process improvement activities for software development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities -
15% Works with entrepreneurs and product management lead to understand requirements and product and service roadmaps. Plans major projects and releases accordingly.
40% Develops applications and manages development schedules for projects. Monitors and reports progress of team members against the assigned tasks. Assesses schedule risks and prepares and executes recovery plans to avoid schedule slips.
15% Assists team in researching technologies, communicating with researchers in NEC Laboratories, developing solutions to software-related problems, including algorithms, design, user interface issues with extensive knowledge and experience of working with researchers, etc.
5% Coordinates and performs reviews of work products of team members, such as unit test plans, code reviews, etc, to ensure quality products. Provides feedback to develop team skills and improve work products.
5% Monitors defects from quality assurance, and evaluates and assigns them to appropriate team members. Interfaces with Business leaders, customers and support teams as necessary to clarify problem reports and gather any other input required by developers.
5% Leads effort to define KPI related to software development, collects them, and analyzes them. Uses results to achieve continuous process improvement.
10% Assess and navigate startups, maintain and leverage partnership.
5% Other miscellaneous duties:
• Leads the effort to identify and evaluate technologies and products that can be used to improve team productivity and quality.
• Works with Business leaders to set criteria for product releases.
• Continuously evaluates team performance and feeds results into a continuous process improvement effort.
• Provides weekly status reports to Senior Management.
• Performs performance appraisals for team members.
• Identifies training needs and coordinates training of team members.
Prerequisites -
Education:
Masters degree in a technical area of AI/ML and computure science, or BS + 5 years of equivalent work experience. Advanced degree preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 3 year of project management experience in software development including Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, and API deploying on cloud (AWS), and maintaining cloud services (EC2, ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, RDS).
Must be knowledgeable of the processes involved with the development of software applications, database services(MySQL, PostgreSQL, NoSQL on cloud), the languages used to design and develop applications such as Python, C#, SQL, and the use of automated programming and regression test tools.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $118,000 to $153,000 with a target annual 15% bonus; depending upon the selected candidate’s relevant experience, the exact salary for the role may fall outside of this range. This role will also be eligible to participate in the Company’s bonus/incentive program(s).
