Position Summary
The Sr. Analyst, IT – AI Developer is a passionate AI evangelist and hands-on doer. They will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing AI solutions to support DCRI’s operations and initiatives. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for AI applications, developing AI-based solutions, and integrating those solutions into existing systems and processes to enhance research capabilities and outcomes.

Primary Job Responsibilities
- Utilizes data expertise, business and clinical knowledge and technical skills to deliver AI solutions that help solve business and clinical trial operational challenges
- Analyzes, builds, tests, deploys and maintains AI-specific tools and applications
- Generates frameworks and rubrics to assess the effectiveness of AI solutions and applications and their impact on the organization
- Ensures AI systems and related infrastructure are maintained and released in a manner that comports with regulatory compliance, ethical standards & security policies
- Troubleshoots concerns and responds to inquiries from AI application users in a timely fashion
- Promotes AI application awareness and familiarity via authoring guidance documents and providing system overviews & demonstrations
- Accountable for adherence and compliance with all IT Operations policies, procedures, BSAs, SLAs, SOPs, WIs and related documentation as applicable to assigned solutions
- Translates stakeholder requirements into functional and non-functional requirements of AI systems
- Informs the development of the DCRI’s AI strategy and helps inform this strategy based on understanding of the domain
- Collaborate with researchers and IT teams to identify opportunities for AI applications
- Implements AI solutions and integrate them into existing systems
- Monitors and maintains AI systems to ensure optimal performance and accuracy
- Conducts data analysis and provides insights to support research objectives
- Stays updated with the latest advancements in AI and machine learning technologies, and advise on areas where the DCRI should prioritize its focus
- Other responsibilities as assigned
- Acts as a mentor to less experienced staff
Education and Experience
BA or BS in computer science, data science, mathematics or an Information Technology-related field and 5 or more years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in the healthcare or clinical research industry is a plus.
Skills, Training and Certifications
- Experience working with large language models (LLMs), machine learning (ML) algorithms, and frameworks.
- Significant experience with AI platforms such as Microsoft Azure AI Foundry or similar.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, Java, SQL or other scripting languages.
- Experience in model design, development, validation, deployment and monitoring in production environment.
- Experience with MLOps and CI/CD pipeline is preferred.
- Familiarity with data cleaning, manipulation and analysis techniques.
- Basic understanding of the regulatory landscape regarding AI-enabled medical devices and use of AI in clinical trials.
- Experience with privacy, security and safety considerations regarding the use of AI.
- Knowledgeable of the technical limitations of AI, as well as factors of trust, transparency and bias.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong desire to understand the organization's mission, goals and objectives.
- Ability to communicate ideas and solutions to non-technical people.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive customer and internal information.
- Highly self-motivated and directed.
