Our Opportunity
Location: Perth
Roster: Mon to Fri
We are seeking an experienced Green Systems Engineer to serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in renewable energy systems integration, advanced data analytics and intelligent control systems for our future decarbonised mining operations. This role will be crucial in developing and implementing solutions that optimise our renewable energy assets and support our transition to sustainable mining practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement renewable energy forecasting systems utilising machine learning and statistical modelling techniques
- Develop analytical frameworks and monitoring systems that enable real-time performance tracking, predictive maintenance, and automated fault detection for renewable generation assets
- Design and implement Security-Constrained Unit Commitment (SCUC) and Security-Constrained Economic Dispatch (SCED) systems, to integrate energy aware planning outputs with Automatic Generation Control (AGC), to optimise renewable and storage asset dispatch while managing uncertainty and ensuring grid stability
- Create automated workflows for distribution network modeling and analysis using PowerFactory or PSCAD, to validate network configurations and load forecasts based on electrified mining fleet operations and production schedules.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field (Master's preferred)
- AWS Cloud certifications (Associated and Professional) is beneficial
- 5+ years’ experience in power systems and renewable energy
- Experience with optimisation techniques and tools appropriate for optimising models and simulations of dynamic systems i.e. Gurobi
- Experience with power flow analysis and power system simulation software packages (PowerFactory & PSCAD)
- Experience in working with industry standard Power system models (e.g. PLEXOS)
- Analysing large scale data driven decisions
- Experience with coding languages such as Python
- Experience using AI/ML models for renewable generation and demand forecasting
- Experience providing leadership and mentoring
- Experience on agile based projects Self-direction and ability to work in an agile project approach
- Strong capability to develop in Python software language appropriate for analytical application development
- Ability to develop and interpret complex system simulations.
