Job Description

We are a dynamic team within the Scored Commercial Credit department, focused on delivering strategic projects that drive innovation and excellence. Our mission is to enhance the credit lifecycle through data-driven insights and advanced analytics.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Data Scientist to join our Scored Credit Operations and Projects team. The ideal candidate will be capable of independently managing projects, working well under pressure, and demonstrating strong technical abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage strategic projects within the SCOP space.
  • Access, extract, and manipulate data from platforms such as Hadoop, SAS Avalon, and Teradata.
  • Develop and maintain SAS code for data analysis and reporting.
  • Build and enhance Power BI dashboards to provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
  • Engage with various stakeholders across different areas to understand their needs and deliver solutions.
  • Foster strong relationships with stakeholders, building trust and ensuring effective communication.
  • Continuously challenge the status quo and contribute to the innovation and strategic direction of the department.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Strong technical skills with proficiency in SAS and Power BI.
  • Experience in building dashboards and delivering insights to stakeholders.
  • Good understanding of data within FNB, including Hadoop, SAS Avalon, and Teradata
  • Knowledge of Commercial Credit and the Credit Lifecycle is advantageous.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Attitude of excellence, curiosity, and a drive to challenge the status quo.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, Quantitative Risk, Mathematics, or Statistics or similar.

  • Honours or Master’s Degree would be advantageous.

  • Minimum of 5 years in a similar role; Commercial Credit experience preferred.
