Job Description:

The PayPal Developer Experience Engineering Team is looking for strong engineering leader. We’re looking for strong JavaScript skills and solid real-world experience. We’re seeking candidates with a strong (node.js) server background as well as those with more front-end experience (React.js). The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in hiring, building and retaining top web talent, establishing scalable and sustainable architecture, collaborate on the strategy and the roadmap by working closely with the product, design and PMO organizations, besides web front end and back end technical prowess and demonstrated experience building large-scale web based software applications. The work also involves using AI and ML technologies to solve problems, developing tooling and products from ground up.

The candidate should have great communication skills and ideally experience working with a distributed team. Experience managing or contributing to open-source projects is a bonus.

Your day to day:

• Managing a rapidly evolving technology stack on a diverse set of platforms ranging from JS, HTML/CSS, Express.js, React.js, Redux, Rest services, React/Node.

• Collaborating on the roadmap to design and build AI systems - RAG, Vector DBs and models.

• Facilitating and driving key technology decisions with senior technology stakeholders;

• Attracting, retaining and building top notch front end/back end engineering talent;

• Be a mentor, technical leader and thought leader for a talented team of both front end and back end engineers, challenging them and helping them grow;

• Partnering with Product and technology stakeholders to balance aggressive roadmap against engineering principles;

• Building a culture of learning and sharing technology insights across the technology teams;

• Driving consistent practices in hiring, training and development across the technology organization;

• Bring innovation to the table that helps in improving the resiliency of products you are responsible for, sell your ideas and be part of the change;

• Looking for continuous improvement in productivity and quality;

• Deep collaboration with cross functional engineering and product teams;

What do you need to bring:

• 5+ years of experience managing and growing engineering teams that are working on cutting edge technologies

• 10+ years of experience in designing, implementing and maintaining high performance, high availability (24x7), large-scale web based software applications/platforms;

• Excellent communication skills and ability to grasp and convey complex product requirements or technical concepts;

• Ability to work in a fast paced, agile development environment;

• Ability to partner with business units, product management, project management and cross-functional teams to deliver business results with agility and quality;

• Experience building and managing highly effective engineering teams, conducting performance reviews, and recruiting talent;

• Excellent time management skills and ability to work on concurrent assignments with different priorities;

• Proven results oriented person with focus on customer experience and delivering quality products;

• Experience in AI technologies such as RAG, Vector DBs and models.

• Solid knowledge of algorithms and design patterns;

• Solid knowledge of JavaScript/Node/React, web services (REST/JSON),

• Strong Agile skills and proven track record for product delivery;

• Entrepreneurial drive, demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in an innovative and fast paced environment;

• Degree in Computer Science or similar field

The U.S. national annual pay range for this role is

$96900 to $234300
