Data is one of the foundations of ING’s strategy to become one digital bank and Data Operations is the place to operationalize and execute our data strategy. Data Operations aims to optimize the data operations within ING, raising the data management capabilities to the next level by further enhancing and implementing our data management strategy that stipulates how we want to govern data operations throughout the bank.
The Data Operations organization will fulfil ING’s strong belief that data is key in ING’s ambition to become a data driven digital bank, where we need more granular data of high quality to manage the bank wide (customer-)processes, modelling and decision making. As a member of Data Operations organization, you will contribute greatly to operationalize ING’s data strategy and fulfill our data promises.
Job description
With an increased appetite for consuming data and regulatory pressure to demonstrate data quality coverage we need to maintain high standards in Data Quality. Global Data Quality function is responsible for operationalizing ING Data Quality strategy, translating into services and executing globally to ensure we maintain those high standards for ING data across the globe. As an Operations Lead in the Global Data Quality team, you will be part of Data Operations and will be key in delivering our promise of “ensuring data quality” for ING across the globe.
Key Responsibilities
- Design data quality services that are easily expandable to new domains/countries
- Work on the expansion of data quality to other domains & countries and standardization and centralization of our efforts across the globe
- Operationalize and implement data quality services that provide insights into our data and drive remediation to improve the overall quality posture of ING
- Drive and foster a culture of inclusive cross-border collaboration
- Identify gaps and inefficiencies in data operations processes, devising and executing plans for continuous improvement.
- Define, implement, and continuously enhance the end-to-end data quality operating and service model across data domains.
- Maximize the principles of digitalization to ensure our human efforts are focused on improving our client experience.
- Optimize our workforce across teams and locations
- Set-up capabilities to ensure we shift from reactive to a proactive approach on how we ensure data quality.
- Ensure strong cooperation and aligned execution of data quality practices across entities.
- Closely collaborate with Data Platform & Delivery teams on technical matters related to Data Quality and translate that into your teams for execution.
- Provide an improved Data Operations client experience.
- Make sure the circle is doing the right things right, i.e. competent and capable and focus on the right priorities in order to achieve their goals

- Academic Master’s degree (MSc)
- 5+ years professional experience in operations and banking
- You have an in-depth knowledge and experience in running Operations
- Proficient in designing and expanding services across the globe
- Experience with designing& implementing world class operations dashboards that provides clear insights to senior management
- International leadership experience in multiple segments and/or locations
- Familiarity and experience with ING sourcing framework
- A strong network within the bank and a good understanding of the organisation, strategy and our way of working.
- Strong stakeholder management skills (MBB/MBB-1 level)
- Capacity to take responsibility, steer strategy and realisations based on facts and data.
- Managerial courage to question and make decisions.
- Aptitude to empower teams to act autonomously, think out of the box, and be accountable.
- Ability to simplify complexity and drive operational excellence.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify data quality issues.
- Excellent level of English, speech and presentation skills
