As we continue our pursuit of NPS +30 we need to transform the way we engage with our customers and support communities and people.  AI Labs is tasked to transform cutting-edge AI research into practical applications in the bank and pushing the frontiers of AI.

As the Senior Staff Data Scientist in AI Labs you will be responsible for introducing innovative AI technologies and methodologies to the group, pushing the boundaries of what's possible. We support the broader group to leverage AI capabilities through rapid prototyping, proof-of-concept development, and support integration into existing platforms.

As the Senior Staff Data Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in creating tangible AI solutions, from initial concept to functional prototypes, and works closely with other departments to incorporate these innovations into our current infrastructure and processes. You are passionate about all things related to AI and Data Science including Gen AI and Machine Learning tools. You are highly technical and enjoy being fully hands-on with coding. You will be driving projects and outcomes, being heavily focused on design and implementation of novel solutions.

As a community, our data scientists have diverse backgrounds and industry experience, with state-of-the-art machine learning research and development expertise. We are open-minded, curious and passionate about problem solving and data driven innovation at scale. In CBA we collaborate with universities and start-ups, hold regular knowledge sharing, technical training and external talks which aid in growing the data science community and industry reputation.

We support our people with the flexibility to balance where work is done with at least half your time each month connecting in office. We are seeking people who are:

• Passionate about novel research in AI, emerging tech and methodologies.
• Natural leaders that enjoy a collaborative environment and want to help foster a positive and inclusive culture that promotes development and growth.
• Experienced in data science and AI, and willing to learn and jump into the deep end of technical problems by diving into code.
• Adept in developing Machine Learning / Deep Learning / Generative AI systems.
• Capable of translating complex AI concepts into practical, real-world solutions and communicate with clarity to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Comfortable and adaptable in leading projects from concept to implementation, thriving in a fast-paced, evolving field.

 Tech skills:

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure to any ML systems and statistical modelling will set you up for success in this role!

• Experience in conducting research and proficient in experimentation.
• Solid foundations in statistical modelling, Deep Learning,  Machine Learning, Gen AI, Data Science.
• Have experience in developing and deploying a variety of AI / data science solutions including but not limited to DL, generative AI, NLP, Reinforcement Learning.
• Highly experienced in coding skills that allow you to build and implement the ML models ideas easily and quickly (Python, PySpark, Python, SQL, AWS/ Azure)
• Strong leadership skills to handle the end-to-end AI project delivery from idea to production and communicate timelines and key milestone to stakeholders and product owners.
• A PhD in a relevant area is encouraged but not essential.
