Do work that matters

As a Data Science Practice AI Ways of Working Manager, you will be responsible for optimising AI value delivery and fostering a high-performing team environment amongst Data Science practitioners. This role involves overseeing the optimisation of the AI/Gen AI Lifecycle for Data Science practitioners, fostering organisation-wide knowledge management and best practices, and creating knowledge sharing opportunities across the Bank.

You will have extensive experience in delivering AI solutions in large organisations, either in a technical or project management capacity. You have a sound understanding of core AI, Machine Learning and Data Science concepts and tooling, with a passion for continuous improvement.

You’ll foster and encourage a growth orientated culture of sharing, learning and problem solving across teams.  

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage Data Science Tooling and Ways of Working initiatives, including the optimisation initiatives for AI/Gen AI Lifecycle and Data Science tooling.
• Accelerate AI value delivery by optimising the Gen AI and AI Lifecycle for Data Scientists. This includes collaboration with cross-functional teams; analysis of each the lifecycle phase to understand the specific needs and challenges in delivering AI solutions; facilitation of big group workshops, deep dives, and interviews with technical and business stakeholders.
• Nurture high performing teams by fostering knowledge sharing with a single source of truth and providing Data Science connection opportunities across the Bank.
• Establish and oversee new or identify existing decision-making forums to ensure best practice AI and Data Science patterns, principles, methodologies are maintained across the Group.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of Data Science Tooling and Ways of Working initiatives, making recommendations for improvements as needed.
• Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in AI and Data Science, and incorporate them into the Data Science Practice strategies.

The Chief Data & Analytics Office (CDAO) is responsible for shaping and delivering an integrated and consistent approach to the Group’s Data, Advanced Analytics, Data Science and AI capability.

From strategy to execution, you get to do lot with this role. As we move towards a skill led organisation, it is important that we implement and support AI initiatives that meet the ever-changing needs of our customers and the shifting skills and capability landscape for our people. This role works with the Decision Science practice team and chapters to drive execution and embedding of practice initiatives across the group.

We’re interested in hearing from people who have:

• Proven experience in data science or AI related field with a strong understanding of analytical tools and techniques.
• Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering training programs, preferably in a corporate setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
• Strong ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and drive them to successful completion.
• Some leadership experience with the experience to motivate team members to achieve their full potential.

Tech skills

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but having significant experience and exposure with some of these leadership attributes (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a STEM related field.
• Strong understanding of AI/ML core concepts.
• Experience working in AI initiatives within a large organisation within Data/Analytics/AI consulting with skills in project management, strategic thinking, and cross-functional collaboration is highly regarded.
• Capable of working independently while also being an effective team player.
• Experience in data or AI governance roles is highly regarded.
• Strong understanding of AI technical landscape and key tooling/platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure or H2O.ai)
• Passion for improving AI practices and methodologies.
