Position Summary
The Analytics & Behavior Change team is seeking a highly motivated and innovative Lead Data Scientist to play a critical role in the development and enhancement of a cutting-edge healthcare cost estimation tool. This individual will lead a team of data scientists to build, refine, and deploy predictive models that accurately estimate the cost of healthcare services. The candidate will create tools that simplify the understanding of healthcare costs and member benefits. This tooling will empower members to make informed decisions, ultimately leading to better health outcomes. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in statistical modeling, machine learning, and data analysis, along with a deep passion for improving healthcare outcomes and member experiences.


Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in data science, with a strong focus on predictive modeling, machine learning and generativeAI
  • Proven experience in developing and deploying machine learning models in a production environment.
  • Expertise in statistical modeling techniques, including regression, classification, and time series analysis.
  • Strong programming and data mining skills in Python and SQL
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) tools, including BigQuery, Vertex AI and Cloud Composer to implement scalable analytics solutions
  • Ability to anticipate and prevent roadblocks through a project lifecycle and drive resolution/mitigation
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to present complex ideas to various audiences
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to think critically and creatively.
  • Passion for improving healthcare access and affordability


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with healthcare data, including claims data, provider data, and clinical data.
  • Knowledge of healthcare economics and reimbursement methodologies.
  • Experience with natural language processing (NLP), large language models (LLMs) and Generative AI to extract insights from complex data types
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.


Education

Master's or Ph.D. in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$130,295.00 - $284,280.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
