Across R&D, from early research to late development and beyond, frictionless access to a multitude of data is key, ranging from internal target and compound-specific data, experimental in vitro/in vivo data, to data from clinical trials, digital endpoints, external data from electronic health records, RWD/RWE, including well-characterized human data sets etc.…. To make optimal use of all existing data sources and to turn data into knowledge lake to support decision making. The newly formed “TRD Data Enabling and Governance” group has the ambition to act as a RD Chief Data Office to have the authority to guide the building of the right data processes and infrastructure, jointly with RD ITS and all RD functions Data leaders, to optimize the efficiency of our data management processes and enable an opt frictionless data access through appropriate data pipelines to our internal databases.
All these data [need to be available through a simple interface/portal that allows for appropriate aggregation, visualization, and follow-up processing. Thus, any data generated or obtained should become reusable to maximize learning and set us up for greater use of analytics and data driven decision making.
In addition, building on our existing governance and data standards, the Digital Data Sciences organization is also aiming at the development of sustainable mechanism for ensuring data are FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable). For this we will need to implement governance for data standards, ownership and access, with a particular focus on internal data generation, access, and quality, and secondary use of clinical data, as well as raw data access from collaborations.
We are looking for a senior leader in “RD Data Enabling and Governance” to globally lead and coordinate scientists from various data management science disciplines within RD functions. The senior leader will have several direct reports but in addition coordinate scientists from various global data management science disciplines. He/she will be reporting to the Head of R&D Process Excellence within Sanofi R&D.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as a R&D Data point of contact aligning with Sanofi Pasteur teams for consistency.
Develop and execute the enterprise data strategy that aligns with Sanofi purpose and vision. Has decision authority on defining the data sharing and governance practices in RD
Designing governance models and framework, that enables the organization for reusability and future collaborations. Help the organization in defining what data can be shared with whom, when, in compliance with legal requirements but optimizing the fastest access of relevant data to stakeholders who need it.
Own and oversee the global end-to-end R&D Data process and capture from early discovery through clinical development, ensuring it is effective, standardized, and scalable across all regions.
Drive the adoption of best practices for Data optimization and harmonization initiatives across R&D processes.
Establish Data governance structures, including regular reviews, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Act as a liaison between global R&D teams and other functional departments to facilitate data alignment, re-use and knowledge sharing.
Identify and implement digital solutions (e.g., automation, data analytics, AI) to streamline data processes and improve productivity and standardization across the R&D lifecycle.
Drive change management initiatives related to data updates, ensuring smooth adoption and minimizing disruption across global teams.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track process effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
Develop and deliver training programs to R&D teams globally to ensure proficiency and standardization around data governance and management.
Connect with other R&D GPOs to ensure the creation and maintenance of a central knowledge/data repository for R&D processes, best practices, and lessons learned across the organization.
Establish Data integrity and quality council to govern data related risk effectively.
Support the development of enterprise wide KRI’s to mitigate any data risk.
Represent R&D in any Enterprise wide data initiatives aimed at transforming the way Sanofi is generating, collaborating, acquiring, managing, processing information and data across the company .
Create a comprehensive data architecture that supports real time data integrations and analytics to optimize different data management functions.
Harmonize in collaboration across data management functions at Sanofi to optimize project management, resource allocations and ROI.
Design and execute initiatives to integrate AI and ML across data organizations to enhance predictive analytics, risk-based data quality management and automation of repetitive tasks.
Work in collaboration with business and tech subject matter experts to establish R&D standards on the nomenclature, content, structure, taxonomy. Ensure we are always inspection ready and meeting the compliance.
Build and lead a high performing team of data stewards and governing colleagues in collaboration with R&D Digital and the R&D departments,
Interface with AI/ML engineers, data engineers and business analyst to execute the company data strategy.
Develop a talent pipeline by mentoring and coaching data professionals to support Sanofi growth and data goals.
Cultivate a culture of transformation within the data functions, encourage the adoption of new tools, technology and platforms to drive continuous improvement.
Implement effective change management to ensure the successful integration of data strategy.
Establish data as an asset mindset within the enterprise and develop data literacy across R&D.
Experience:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience supporting senior executives, preferably in a corporate environment.
Clear understanding of Data Governance, Management and Processes
Strong Knowledge of Research & Development across the Pharmaceutical company
Proven ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced setting.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Experience with project management tools and scheduling software (e.g., Asana, Microsoft Teams, Zoom) preferred.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a collaborative, solution-oriented mindset.
High level of professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information.
