As a part of the global research, our AI research in Pittsburgh focuses on Hybrid Models, Neuro-Symbolic AI, Cyber-Physical Systems, Multimodal Foundation Models, AI-based Signal Analytics, and Intelligent Internet of Things. We develop scalable, intelligent, and trustworthy AIoT solutions for Bosch products and services in application areas such as advanced manufacturing, enterprise AI, health care, smart home and building solutions, automated driving, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), robotics.

Originating from Bosch AI research in Pittsburgh, we are responsible for pushing the boundaries of hybrid modeling and neuro-symbolic AI through key innovations to solve complex industry problems, and shape the future of Bosch products and services for both internal and external users in the fields of advanced manufacturing, healthcare, energy technologies etc. We work with internal partners of different Bosch business units to transfer our solutions into future products. We also actively collaborate with leading groups in academia and industry to promote research ideas and publish research findings in internationally renowned conferences and journals such as AAAI, IJCAI, ISWC, ESWC, ICRA, IROS, RSS, NeurIPS, etc.)

Job Description

  • Conduct research on Hybrid Modeling and Neuro-Symbolic AI to address academic and industrial challenges.
  • Work with an international team of experts to transfer and apply the Bosch in-house Hybrid Modeling/Neuro-Symbolic AI innovations and 3rd-party solutions to Bosch AI products and services, building systems that can advance manufacturing, healthcare, energy solutions, etc.
  • Stay abreast of the latest technological innovations and market trends by attending academic conferences, technical events, and seminars.
  • Offer expert insights to the management team in relevant technology sectors, aiding in strategic planning, R&D trajectory, and investment decisions.
  • Document and disseminate research findings through high-caliber publications and/or patent submissions.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science or Engineering, or a related discipline or master’s degree with 3+ years industry experience (Hybrid Models and Neuro-Symbolic AI related) after graduation.
  • 2+ years of research experience or equivalent graduate research experience on Hybrid Models and Neuro-Symbolic AI, including mechanistic modeling and machine learning, using parametric and nonparametric models, methods that compress structured symbolic knowledge to integrate with neural patterns (and reason using the integrated neural patterns)
  • In-depth experiences in Hybrid Modeling and Neuro-Symbolic AI, with work in at least two of the following areas: time-series data analysis, physics-based models, causal learning, neuro-symbolic reasoning, neuro-symbolic cognitive modeling, knowledge engineering with LLMs
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages commonly used in systems research (e.g., Python, C++) and hands on experience with AI libraries.
  • Publication record in top venues including AAAI, IJCAI, ISWC, ESWC, ICRA, IROS, RSS, NeurIPS

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong background in math, statistics, computational modeling
  • 3+ years experiences in industrial research
  • Hands-on experience in product development in the above-mentioned areas for consumer/enterprise markets.
  • Experience in leading R&D project & team dealing with international customers.
  • Leadership skills with excellent English communication & teamwork skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork capabilities.

Additional Information

The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $135,000 - $160,000. Within the range, individual pay is determined based on several factors, including, but not limited to, work experience and job knowledge, complexity of the role, job location, etc. Your Recruiter can share more details about the specific salary range for this position during the interview process.
