Department Summary
Roche Information Solutions (RIS) - charged with creating a modern portfolio of decision support software products and generating insights that change the way patients are cared for. Our challenge is to bring together complex diagnostic and treatment data from medical devices and IT systems and intelligently process and present this data to clinicians, researchers, and caregivers to improve research outcomes and patient care offering a suite of Clinical Decision Support (CDS) solutions.
The RIS Real World Data (RWD) Team leverages RWD to generate evidence in support of the CDS portfolio, clinical tests, diagnostic devices, and services developed and marketed by Roche Diagnostics. The data we work with is varied in type including - but not limited to – clinical patient-level data, supplemented with data such as omics, imaging, digital health, etc. We are passionate about unleashing the power of RWD to advance patient care, and are steadfast in our commitment to “doing now what patients need next.”
This internship position is located in SANTA CLARA, CA, on-site (hybrid).
The Opportunity
Support RWD study protocol development and RWD analysis that serve the evidence needs of our diagnostic tests and CDS product portfolio.
Assist in our collaborations with cross-functional stakeholders to create, confirm, and validate disease & clinical hypotheses for RWD projects supporting commercial, market access, medical and regulatory needs.
Support the publication of high-quality RWD analysis results through posters, abstracts, and manuscripts at external and internal events/congresses.
Program Highlights
Intensive 12-weeks, full time (40 hours per week) paid internship.
Program start dates are in May or June (Summer)
A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.
Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.
Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.
Who You Are
Required Education: You meet one of the following criteria:
- Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student)
Required Majors: Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Pharmacoeconomics, Health Economic and Outcomes Research, or other quantitative disciplines.
Required Skills:
Demonstrated proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python and R.
Experience in analyzing large real-world datasets, such as claims or electronic health records.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications
Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
Expert problem solver capable of seeking help when needed; ability to think creatively and take initiative.

Experience in statistical modeling, machine learning, or other statistical methods is a bonus!
Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting.
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $50.00 an hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
