We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant for a two-year position to support neuroimaging and clinical research in neurocritical care. The candidate will contribute to resting-state fMRI studies primarily in Coma and Disorders of Consciousness. Additionally, retrospective/prospective clinical investigations in intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), and acute ischemic stroke will also be investigated.The Research Assistant will also be responsible for participant recruitment, enrollment, and data maintenance, ensuring IRB compliance, and adherence to research protocols.

Job Duties Outlined:
Maintain IRB compliance, including protocol amendments, progress reports, and regulatory submissions.
Oversee participant recruitment, screening, and informed consent processes.
Coordinate study enrollment and follow-up visits while maintaining compliance with IRB-approved protocols.
Organizing follow-up visits, and scheduling research activities for participants.
Ensure proper handling of clinical and imaging data, including data entry, maintenance, and quality assurance.
Performing bedside cognitive tests, such as the MoCA and CRS-R.
Assist with fMRI preprocessing, including field map corrections, motion correction, and signal processing.
Organize and maintain neuroimaging datasets (BIDS format) and support multiband BOLD fMRI analysis.
Implement and troubleshoot MATLAB, Python, and Bash scripts for neuroimaging pipelines (e.g., FreeSurfer, FSL, AFNI, CBIG).
Data collection through Epic for assistance with retrospective and prospective clinical studies in neurointensive care, ICH, SAH, and acute ischemic stroke.
Prepare figures, tables, and reports for publications, grant submissions, and clinical presentations.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Psychology, Computer Science, or Data Science.
Work Experience: to 1-2 Years of Experience in related work
Preferred Qualifications:
Education: Master’s degree in Neuroscience, Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Psychology, Computer Science, or Data Science.
Work Experience:
Experience with SPSS or R statistical software.
Proficient in data collection and analysis in Excel.
Experience with neuroimaging tools (e.g., SPM, FSL, AFNI, FreeSurfer).
Skills:
Understanding of EHR data analysis, participant recruitment, and retrospective cohort studies.
Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, or Bash scripting for data analysis.

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
