The Work
The Manager, Data Engineering is responsible for ensuring that data integration pipelines on the Azure platform are efficient, well-designed, and compliant with data management standards. This role combines data integration pipeline development expertise with managerial skills. The incumbent will liaise with various development groups, business groups and customers to ensure the project related data requirements are satisfied. The incumbent will also manage a team of developers and data engineers, including recruiting, training, and coaching.  

The Core Responsibilities!

• Data Engineering Leadership: Lead a team of Data Engineers and ETL developers, providing guidance, support, and mentoring to ensure the successful implementation of Data Integration solutions on Azure.
• Azure Data Integration Solution Design: Collaborate with data architects and stakeholders to design the pipelines that align with business goals, data integration strategies, and architectural best practices. 
• Data Integration Process Management: Overseeing the design, development, and management of data integration pipelines on Azure using tools like Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Logic Apps, or other relevant ETL tools. This involves defining data pipelines, transformations, and data integration workflows. 
• Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize data integration related processes for scalability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. 
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation for the processes, data pipelines, and best practices. Generate reports on data integration performance and progress. 
• Security and Compliance: Ensuring that data stored and processed in Azure adheres to security best practices and compliance standards. 
• Technology Evaluation: Staying up to date with the latest Azure data services and tools and evaluating their suitability for the organization's data integration needs. 
• Manage assignment of resources to projects across multiple product lines 

Let's Talk About You!

• Post-Secondary education, preferably in the areas ofComputer Science or Information Technology. 
• 8+ years of experience of working with data and database systems. 
• Strong experience in Data Integration pipeline development and data management. 
• Expertise in Microsoft Azure data services, including Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and Azure Logic Apps. 
• Self-starter who can take a concept and drive it through to the design and implementation. 
• Strong oral and written communication skills. 
• Strong Knowledge of data governance, data quality, and data security best practices. 
• Experience with cloud-based data integration solutions and Azure data warehousing. 
• Knowledge on EQB Products (Lending and Digital) will be an asset. 
• Knowledge of reporting requirements such as BCAR and CDIC will be an asset.
