Senior Software Engineer (Front-End)

The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Platform organization at Microsoft builds the end-to-end Azure AI stack/PaaS and is core to Azure’s innovation and differentiation, as well as all of Microsoft’s flagship products, from Office to Teams, to Xbox. We are the team building Azure OpenAI, Azure Machine Learning (ML), Cognitive Services, Azure AI Foundry, and the global Azure AI infrastructure for running the largest AI workloads on the planet. 

Within AI Platform, our team in Evaluation AI is working on building and scaling the front-end for the next generation Generative AI (GenAI) app evaluation and monitoring platform.

We are looking for a passionate, results-oriented, and inquisitive Senior Software Engineer (Front-End). In this role, you will collaborate with front-end & back-end engineers as well as data scientists to develop the Azure AI Foundry user interface (UI) to scale GenAI evaluation for production use.

Responsibilities

• Identify requirements, scope solutions, estimate work, and schedule deliverables
• Apply engineering principles to establish robust and maintainable architecture and designs
• Promote and drive the adoption of good coding standards and patterns
• Develop software using languages such as TypeScript, JavaScript, React, and others
• Collaborate with partner teams to comprehend, define, enhance, and develop Azure ML and Azure AI capabilities
• Respond, resolve, and integrate customer feedback with agility and dedication
• Lead by example, adhering to best engineering practices, raising the quality bar, and improving the team's response to customer incidents

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:  

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience.
• 3+ years experience with React
• 3+ years experience with JavaScript or TypeScript

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
